We were lucky to catch up with Agustina Garcia Laredo recently and have shared our conversation below.
Agustina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
“Land in the US” is precisely what I meant when I wanted a short and very clear name for what we do.
We land foreign or new businesses for foreign customers in the US market by providing market studies and a complete set-up from the corporate structure to the production, logistics, warehousing, e-commerce, branding, communication, and launching.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I arrived in Miami 18 years ago and spent 15 years working for foreign small high-end companies managing their business in the US market. Three years ago, I launched Land in the US with the idea of helping foreign companies during the early process of set-up or start-up until its operation.
What sets us apart from any other way of setting up their companies: we save them time and money because we already made many mistakes and learned from them. We are a “one-stop” service with every trustful supplier or vendor needed to open a business in the retail and food industry.
From market studies, organizational structure, logistics, marketing, communication, production, warehousing, branding, fulfillment, back office, new store opening, employees, etc. We coordinate every step of the way to make it happen.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mouth has been the source of new clients. We do advertise on social media, and we do receive many consultations from it, but word of mouth also means a good reference and reputation. We stand behind our service and customer service.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Right before the pandemic started, I decided to quit my job for a change. The pandemic began in March of 2020, so I changed plans and decided to help my two kids through home-schooling for the 1st time since they were born.
Many months passed and I really needed to start something on my own with my original ideas. I had absolutely everything planned in my head; I envisioned every single detail and service I wanted to provide to my future clients; I just had to make it happen against many outside negative opinions.
I had a couple of meetings, and within a week, I had my very 1st client. What I have learned the most is from those people that can trust an idea. Those were my angels, the ones who gave me the first opportunity to launch my business.
To my own surprise, in the 1st year (of 6 months), my company made $78K, and by the 2nd complete year, Land in the US made $190K. We are still growing and learning, but I am proud and happy with every step of the process.
