We were lucky to catch up with Agatha Achindu recently and have shared our conversation below.
Agatha , appreciate you joining us today. We love heartwarming stories – do you have a heartwarming story from your career to share?
This particular story is especially close to my heart—not because she is the only client I’ve helped, but because of the depth of her journey. When this client first came to me, she had been on high blood pressure medication for over 20 years. Like so many others, she had resigned herself to a lifetime of dependency on these medications, as her physician had advised. However, after two decades, her kidneys were beginning to show signs of distress, and she was referred to a nephrologist. The prospect of potential dialysis was looming, and she felt desperate.
By the time she found her way to me, she was at her wits’ end. In the span of eight months, through her unwavering commitment, we worked together to transform her life. We improved her diet, her sleep, her exercise routine, her exposure to toxins, stress management, relationships, work-life balance, and spiritual well-being—all the essential pillars of holistic health, encompassing mind, body, and spirit.
Just one month into our work together, her first appointment with the nephrologist showed remarkable improvement in her numbers. Today, she no longer relies on daily high blood pressure medication, and her kidney markers have returned to normal. The human body has an extraordinary capacity to heal when it is nurtured with the right nourishment—both physically and mentally

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
If you’re meeting me for the first time, my journey is a bit unique—you could say I’m an accidental entrepreneur. I was born and raised on my mother’s farm in Cameroon, West Africa, where I was fortunate to grow up eating fresh, organic food straight from our garden or from local farmers. Convenience foods weren’t a part of our lives; the refrigerator was used mainly for cold drinks and leftovers. By the time I was 9, I was cooking and baking meals for my family and friends, who always asked for more.
When I moved to the United States, I was struck by how hard it was to find the fresh foods I had grown up with. Everything seemed to be packaged, processed, and designed to sit on shelves for years. The colors, textures, and smells were nothing like the fresh food I was used to, and I found sugar in almost everything. That’s when I began preparing my own meals, and soon after, I was teaching others how to make simple, healthier changes to their favorite recipes—whether it was baking instead of frying or lightly cooking vegetables to retain nutrients and flavor.
My first big “a-ha” moment came when I was six months pregnant with my youngest child, who’s now 19 and in college. I realized that baby food was just as over-processed as everything else, and I couldn’t believe it. I thought baby food would be different—healthier, fresher—since babies need the best nutrition. But I was wrong. The peas were a dull brown instead of vibrant green, and when I checked the expiration date, I realized the food was set to last two more years. I couldn’t accept that. I decided I would make my own baby food for my child, but I also wondered: what about all the other parents out there?
That’s when both my companies really found me. Frustrated with the lack of healthy options for children, I began teaching parents how to make fresh, homemade baby food. The community quickly grew to over 45,000 mothers, which led me to leave my corporate job as an IT executive in 2006 and start Yummy Spoonfuls—the first nationally distributed, fresh, frozen organic baby food. Later, in 2016, I launched Life Unprocessed™, a wellness and consultancy practice where I help clients unlearn harmful habits and rediscover health, often helping them get off medication for chronic illnesses.
I’m deeply proud of the work I do and the lives I help transform. As a 57-year-old grandmother with no health issues, no medications, no cavities, and no menopause symptoms, I know firsthand that aging doesn’t have to mean deteriorating health. My life and work inspire not only my clients but also my community to live better, healthier lives. I help people unlearn what no longer serves them, guiding them through personalized wellness roadmaps that honor their individuality. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to health because we’re all unique. My goal is to help my clients embrace their bodies’ resilience and heal through love, trust, and sustainable changes, so they can look forward to a brighter, more energized future.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the most powerful lessons I had to unlearn is that saying “no” can actually be a form of self-preservation, not a weakness. When I was just starting out, I had this intense drive to gain exposure for my business, so I accepted every speaking invitation, product demo, and donation request that came my way. I was convinced that if I didn’t say yes to every opportunity, my business would suffer.
Then, one morning, after scheduling myself for a day filled with back-to-back events, I woke up with laryngitis. I literally couldn’t speak. It was my body’s way of saying, “Enough is enough.” That moment was a clear message: I needed to stop over-committing and start honoring my limits. I learned that it’s okay to say no. You can always revisit an opportunity later, but your health and well-being have to come first. This shift in perspective has allowed me to serve from a place of abundance rather than burnout.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
Absolutely, I would choose the same path all over again. Every step of my journey, from growing up on my mother’s farm in Cameroon to founding Yummy Spoonfuls and Life Unprocessed, has been rooted in my passion for helping others find health and wellness in their lives. This work, though challenging at times, has allowed me to witness the transformative power of nourishing the mind, body, and spirit—not just for myself, but for the countless people I’ve had the privilege to guide.
I wouldn’t trade the opportunity to help others discover their true potential, heal from the inside out, and live a more vibrant, fulfilled life for anything. This profession has brought me immeasurable joy and purpose, and I know it’s exactly where I’m meant to be. If I could go back, I wouldn’t change a thing. The lessons, the triumphs, and even the struggles have all been essential to shaping the person and professional I am today.
