We caught up with the brilliant and insightful AFUGA COFFEE- Alin & Roee Erenshteyn a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
AFUGA COFFEE- Alin & Roee, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
The idea for our business started from a combination of passion, courage and our love for coffee and people.
Afuga Coffee is a local Austin Coffee Shop, serving high quality coffee and combining community-building and hospitality.
We have started as a mobile coffee bar for events in the San Fransisco area, motivated to bring great coffee anywhere!
Lack of good coffee at events made us want to fill this gap in the market by opening a mobile coffee bar for corporate and private events. We were excited about bringing something new to our community, and we were determined to see our vision come to fruition.
When COVID hit we needed to find a creative way to continue our business and with pause at the events industry, we have decided to ship coffee and tea gift boxes all over the US, working mainly with companies that wanted to treat their employees.
When we moved to Austin at the end of 2020, we were motivated to find a home not only for our family, but also for our coffee business.
2 years later, we have opened our first coffee shop- Afuga Coffee in east Austin.
Afuga Coffee shop was born out of a desire to create more than just a place to grab a cup of coffee. It originated from a deep-rooted passion for coffee culture and a strong belief in the power of community. Together with great pastries, food options and merchandise that connected to coffee, we are determent to bring all great things for our customers.
Afuga Coffee was founded on the belief that great coffee has the power to bring people together. We knew it was a worthwhile endeavor because we were not only bringing great high quality coffee experience, but also offering a unique approach that prioritized community and connection. And it’s this unique combination that continues to drive our passion and commitment to excellence every day.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Building our reputation within the market for Afuga Coffee has been a journey rooted in our unwavering commitment to quality, community, and innovation. The dedication to innovation keeps our offerings fresh and exciting, while also demonstrating to our customers that we’re always striving to exceed their expectations.
We are also working at the business, sometimes behind the bar and sometimes behind scene. But always involved and care!

How’d you meet your business partner?
We are partner in business and life. Working together as husband and wife works really well for us and we are good as entrepreneurship team, drawing strength from each other’s support and shared vision. Our complementary skills and perspectives have allowed us to tackle every aspect of building our business,
Of course, it’s not always easy balancing business and marriage and to know to when to stop working and dedicate time to our family, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. And as we continue on this journey, we’re excited to see where it takes us and the impact we can make together in the world of coffee.
