We recently connected with Aduragbemi Peters and have shared our conversation below.

Aduragbemi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?

In the beginning I always wondered what the topic songs would be, I didn’t have the freedom I have now. It took constant repetition before I realized I had an amazing voice. I had to learn how to write songs myself, no one can teach you these things especially if you want to be unique. I wouldn’t do anything differently except start with more confidence but even that was a lesson I had to learn.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Adurah, I’m an upcoming Nigerian artist based in Baltimore, my goal is to help bridge the gap between Nigeria and the world. Everything I do has an African essence but that doesn’t stop me from exploring other genres. I want to bring together people from all over the world and just have a wonderful time,that’s my biggest goal as well as helping further the narrative on music in general. I’ve created a fresh but timeless sound in order to do this, I just need people to give my music a chance.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?

I wish I knew I could record myself as an upcoming artist, not only does it save money but it helped my growth. I believe it is important to know what goes on behind the scenes in terms of recording a song.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

I just want to spread love and inspire the world with my gift. We need more of the youth to believe we can make a difference if we chase our dreams.
