We were lucky to catch up with Adryenne Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Adryenne thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?

Bearing A Purpose Creations literally came from God. As a dance minister, we are equipped with different tools and weapons (not literal weapons). But there is flags, (which is what I create), Mattah sticks, swing rods, swing flags, banners, literally just about everything. I create the flags for right now. We have been in business for a year and the mission is “Where BEARING becomes OUR PURPOSE” it literally means that every time we bear a flag or a mattah stick or whatever, we have a purpose behind. We war, we worship, we break up the grounds.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I got into the flag making business just a year ago. It started all because of what God spoke to me. As a dance minister, I love supporting other flag creators because their work is so BEAUTIFUL! But even when I started the business, the ones that I supported when I was purchasing are the same ones who I asked for advice, what I needed to get started, etc and they turned me down. I was hurt but God allowed two beautiful people by the name of Ramona Helfer and Kim Muyaka. These ladies didn’t know me at all but they literally gave the tools, the ins and outs, everything I needed to get started. I’m talking what to buy, from dyes, to rods, to material, to which sewing machine.

I am proud to say that I have helped others when they couldn’t find anyone else to make what they desired. What sets me apart is that I have God first in everything. From the designs, to the colors you name it.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

Remain CONSISTENT! Yes take breaks, get your rest, but remain consistent. Whether it is posting, cresting, updating your customers and potentials. Consistency is BEST. I HAVE LEARNED THE HARD WAY. I kind of fell off with orders and not communicating, not being consistent to where it caused some to be upset or frustrated with me. But once they received their order, they were amazed. Their frustration was no longer

Consistency, Communication & don’t procrastinate ! Continue to post, whether you get 2 likes OR NONE. TRUST ME, they see it, they see your work, they see and they know. It can be hard and discouraging, but never give up!

We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.

When I started, I knew nothing! I didn’t know where to start, but GOD allowed me to cross paths with two beautiful souls whom I love dearly. Mrs. Ramona & Mrs. Kim. These ladies took me under their wings, taught me everything I know and then some. Shared their knowledge with me when others turned me away. They told me what to buy, what not to buy, what fabric, what brand of dyes to get. Literally everything. There is ONLY 1 person I buy from now and that my dear friend, Ms. Jules. She has given me so much wisdom on flag making and I couldn’t be anymore happier. These ladies are near and dear to me.
