We recently connected with Adrienne Lee and have shared our conversation below.
Adrienne, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I always wanted a name that reflected me so classy was one of the words came to mind & so instead of the cliche “clothing” term to add with classy. I decided to substitute it for “laundry”. At that moment it just made sense and it clicked well together, so I stuck with it.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Adrienne Lee , I am from Coldwater Mississippi and reside in Southaven Mississippi . In 2005, I graduated from Coldwater High School. I attended Northwest Community College 2007 through 2009 and majored in computer information systems. I took a break to focus on other things that I was passionate about . I got married to my best friend Jan 22, 2011 and started a family . With being a mom of 3 , I found interest in wanting to educate and help children between the ages 1-4yrs old . So I went back to college and got my certification in childcare . However, I always kept Fashion & Style in my pocket despite doing a host of other things. Since I was 16 I always knew I wanted to work and be apart of the fashion world. I love being able to dress others as well as myself. It’s a passion of mine and comes natural to me. When you look good you feel good . I originally launched Classy Laundry July 2014, after trial and error I successfully re-launched July 2021. I have been in my bag since . I also capture my own pictures and do my own promotional flyers for my growing business . When it comes to my business name , I always knew I wanted to have a catchy name that described who I am “classy”. So instead of adding “clothing” behind classy I substituted for “laundry” and it clicked . I’m most proud of my ability to thrive no matter what life throws at me and remain emotionally intelligent. I love that I don’t let social media rush me into thinking if I’m not always busy I’m not doing nothing at all. Self care will always be my number one priority besides being a mother and wife . I wear a lot of hats and I thank God for balance through it all. What sets me apart is my creativeness , my authenticity and style . I provide trendy laundry while giving a fine line between class , chic , style and sex appeal. I find solutions for people like myself that’s looking for a different style that’s not like everyone else .
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn the thought of expecting everyone to support me . Not everybody has to support you because it’s not their job to. However , It’s your job to keep showing up for you . I use to get so upset and discouraged when I would place these expectations onto people especially the people I held in a higher regard . I had a moment where I asked myself, was I showing up for myself at a 100% and I wasn’t . I had to get rid of those negative patterns and habits to see the results I wanted . Sometimes you have to get out of your own way. Always be the motivation you crave and never stop pouring into you . You never know who’s looking up to you .
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Always take advantage of investing in ads on your social media platforms. They are very effective because it helps reach a larger audience. Some days you won’t always get a chance to post as much content as you would like . With ads you can set them to where they last for 3-7 days at a time and it basically runs itself . You also get to see how many people it reached and you can decide which ad /product had the most engagement . Using these tactics has helped grow my clientele beyond my local surroundings.
