We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Adrienne Hollings. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with adrienne below.
Adrienne, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Our mission is two fold. This business began as a way to keep our 103 acre, 4th generation, Off-Grid family farm alive and viable for future generations. In doing so we strive to create a space where folks can step away from the unrealistic pace and expectations of the modern world while stepping back into a world deeply rooted in the balance and simplicity of nature. We are working towards regenerative agriculture practices and unique, one of a kind experiences. An escape to find yourself where the world grows quiet enough to hear your soul speak, where food is medicine and presence is priority. A place to heal, rest, build and share friendship, love, food, and community.
This dream began as a lifestyle.
I (Adrienne) have lived off-grid on this property for 35 years. I grew up in the time before internet and cell phones, before the world was accessible at the click of a button. Having the divine opportunity to learn and live the skills needed to create a life of nourishment, sustenance and self sustainability has been the greatest gift of my life. I wish to share these skills and this lifestyle with through our farm with open arms.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Adrienne Hollings, I am 35 years old and a mother of two beautifully wild children and partner to an incredibly unique and supportive man. I started Grow Wild in 2022 when a group of friends were looking for a place to practice prenatal yoga in our area. From there the business snowballed into immersive yoga retreats and has continued to grow and evolve..
Grow Wild resides on our 103 acre Off-Grid Farm in Shawnigan Lake BC Canada. My children are the 4th generation to call this home. On the farm side of things we raise Beef Cattle, Sheep & Lambs, Pigs & Chickens as well as grow seasonal produce. We also forage the wild grown delicacies of the forests.
We offer space for Conscious Weddings, Overnight Wellness Escapes, Retreats, Educational Workshops and one off kind experiences deeply rooted in the nature immersed, off-grid lifestyle. We also offer an annual Womens Wellness Festival that empowers women to re-connect with their divine feminine, grow in community and create a deeper sense of self.
We work with incredible local facilitators to enrich the experiences and offer new, ever changing opportunities for growth.
I myself am a 200 RYT with trainings in Prenatal PRYT and Restorative Yoga. My background is in horticulture and growing food. Everyday I dream of ways to offer an immersive experience where the body can be treated as a whole. Everything we offer is homegrown, home raised and home-made.
Can you talk to us about your experience with selling businesses?
Prior to Grow Wild, I owned and operated Everything Grows Landscape and Design for 8 years. After my 4th pregnancy (2 of which ended in loss) I came to the realization that this business was no longer feeding my soul. It was in fact draining my energy both physically and spiritually. The deep and difficult lessons I learned in this time were ones of surrender and letting go. Of honouring your body, your stage of life your expectations of self and pressures of others. Becoming strong in the knowing of your own skin and being OK with the ending of a chapter. The business still lives on in the hands of one of my dearest friends and it is a beautiful thing to watch your dream grow into something new and successful in the hands of another.
How did you build your audience on social media?
This is a funny one…I don’t agree with the way social media has stolen the attention of the world. While it is an incredible tool for the growth of a business, I believe it is one that needs to be used cautiously. Sharing the load, finding someone who understands and believes in your vision can be your greatest asset. Have a clear vision and communicate it clearly with room for change and space to pivot.
