We were lucky to catch up with Adrienne Grace recently and have shared our conversation below.
Adrienne, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Ever since I was a little girl, I always played it safe. I followed the rules never wanting to ruffle any feathers or draw any attention to myself. When it was time to decide where to go to college, I conformed to what my parents wanted which was for me to go to the same school as my older sister, University of Delaware. While in school, I majored in finance because I heard that would give me the greatest chances of landing a secure, good-paying job after graduation. I entered the finance world and worked my way up the corporate ladder where I spent 7 years as a top performing VP of Sales for an asset manager making very good money especially for my age. I did this not because I loved what I was doing but because it was what I thought I was “supposed” to be doing and I was hungry to make more and more money thinking that is what would make me happy. With each year as my income grew, so did the empty feeling in the pit of my stomach. My happiness (along with my mental and physical health) were eroding – I thought this was what was going to make me happy?! Those feelings were easy to cover up though when you’re able to buy yourself whatever you want and had a demanding, high-paced job with a large expense account. I was a high speed train blazing down the tracks but I never asked myself if I was heading to the right destination. That all changed when the pandemic hit in 2020. While we were forced to stay in our homes and take a pause from the busyness of our lives, I used that time to think, reflect, journal, meditate and ask myself some big important questions. Who am I? What is my purpose? What kind of legacy do I want to leave behind? What impact do I want to have in this world? After months of contemplation and hiring a coach myself, I got really honest with myself. I wanted to run my own business and I wanted to help people. But how would I do that?! I couldn’t leave my career that I worked so hard for and I didn’t know the first thing about running a business. That was when I found my mentor, Bob Proctor, and went through his coaching program. Then my life really started to change. I realized how powerful we really are and that we can do anything we want, but it’s our own mindset that keeps us stuck. I knew that if I could follow the principles in Bob’s program, I would be successful in running my own coaching business. I got certified as a Proctor Gallagher Consultant and completely quit my secure finance career after 16 years in March of 2021 – and it was the scariest and best decision I ever made!! I am literally a product of the product I coach on which makes it really easy to talk about because I’m so passionate about it and KNOW that it works. I was able to hit six figures in my business in under a year and my business is thriving! All because I changed my mindset. Now I want to help as many people lives better lives by changing the way they think and help them create a life they love.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I used to be the type of person that was always reading books on mindset, effectiveness, peak performance etc. but nothing ever created lasting change in me until I went through Bob Proctor’s coaching program – Thinking into Results. We always focus on trying to change behaviors and habits to change results which is a slow and painful way and is usually temporary. If you want to create lasting change in your life, you need to change at the level where the results are created – our minds. I now work with sales professionals and business owners helping them bring in more business while actually working less by changing their mindset & habits and create a life they love. People don’t have to trade more time for money and success – you can actually become a more productive, efficient person when you learn how to use the power of your mind. I take my clients on a six month journey of transformation where I am there to hold them accountable to make sure they get real results. What makes my coaching different is I’m not telling people how to do their jobs, but I show them how to close the gap between what they already know and what they do by changing their subconscious mind and habits. I also bring a lot of experience in sales from my background. I am extremely proud of the business I have built in a short amount of time and am even prouder at what my clients have accomplished. It’s so rewarding to see them making serious changes in their lives and business and just become overall happier people!

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe what has helped me build my reputation is two things – service and going all in. I ask myself everyday – how can I provide greater service? I’m constantly thinking about how I can serve both my current clients as well as my online community. I believe having this service mentality helps you build your reputation and loyalty. After all this is not about me, it’s about who I can serve so I like to keep that at the forefront of my mind. The second thing is going all in, my commitment to my business. When someone starts a new business, it’s easy to be excited in the beginning and then start to fizzle out. Or to start something on the side, testing the waters until you have real traction. I believe people are drawn to me because I took a huge leap of faith, went all in on my business and continue to show up every day just as excited as day one. I’m attracting more and more clients now (even ones I spoke to in the beginning that didn’t enroll with me) because they see my level of commitment. I send out an email every week and I have for 62 weeks in a row now with a short blurb on how I apply these mindset concepts in my own life. I’ve taken people on the journey with me and for people that knew me before, they can see how different I am now and they’re impressed with my level of commitment.

Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
I was in sales for 16 years and I’ve learned more about selling in the last 15 months than I did in 16 years!!! I never realized how much mindset plays a part in selling. Many times when I meet with people, they’re not in the market to hire a coach. One time in particular, I had a man sit down and the first thing he said was “I just want to be transparent but I am absolutely not interested in coaching.” By the end of the conversation, he handed over his credit card and paid me in full. When you start to understand how the mind works, you not only understand yourself better but it helps you understand others better as well. I’ve also learned that our sales results are a direct reflection of what is going on in our subconscious mind. So if your sales results are not what you’d like them to be, you need to install some new programming into your mind. When you do that, sales starts becoming easy and effortless…and fun!
