We recently connected with Adrienna Winfrey and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Adrienna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Arin’s Nesting Place, a Domestic Violence and community advocacy ran by survivor Adrienna Winfrey.
Arin’s Nesting Place was created in 2017 by Adrienna Winfrey our Founder.
Adrienna hit the ground running in 2018 upon returning to New Orleans from Dallas, Texas putting in the groundwork to get educated on DV. Getting into the community to access the need and to be a voice for the voiceless. Previously Arin’s Nesting Place has provided a direct financial assistance to families, weekly talk show on DV and community issues surrounding it, advocated for community conversations with our govt candidates during election times, group and one on one survivor consults, outreach at community events, having Gala’s to honor Survivors, providing safety planning, housing (sometime taking people into her personal home, and providing needs to families, as well as previously opened a resource facility to provide wrap around services to the community. So much more.
With bringing in such amazing resources, Arin’s Nesting Place was also met with some challenges resulting in the closing of the facility but the opening of other pressing opportunities. Direct resources to a struggling community a bigger push for capital to apply the next plan, mobile accessibility and continuing to be a strong presence online and a “go to” for all areas of DV in the community.
Adrienna’s personal experience with DV fuels her commitment to the of mission ANP that is to provide support and advocacy to victims and survivors of DV, and to work to end the cycle of violence as well as support other survivors who are her same path of growth. She has worked to collaborate with other organizations in the community to provide a broader range of resources to those in need.
Spiritually, she woke up one day and cried out to God like never before and begged for change. But first, she realized she was the change that needed to happen first before anything surrounding her would change. You cannot change what you do not recognize. Raised Catholic, Adrienna did not find herself receiving God completely. In 2016, Adrienna accepted the Lord in the presence of her now Baptist faith. Changed started within first. I prayed for healing, restoration, confidence, and the strength to continue to endure the biggest spiritual fight, with myself. Learning to pray, fast and submerge into God so that the life’s outcome would be different. Adrienna also found strength in helping the community to find this peace and restoration in God.
Being a survivor of domestic violence has changed Adrienna in so many ways; however, being a soldier for the kingdom has also brought on a lot of responsibility but has also brought peace and joy from God that the world could not provide. Adrienna is on a mission to spread the good news of accepting God and allowing God to use us all in our own special ways.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

At Arin’s Nesting Place, the vision of the organization is “Creating a safe haven for the broken”. We pride ourselves on prompt responses, 24 hour a day, 7 days a week access, providing a safe space, assisting with safety planning and a commitment to exceeding community expectations in addressing domestic violence. Adrienna Winfrey’s leadership ensures that ANP remains dedicated to “meeting each person where they are”.
Future Plans
As we look toward the future, we are focused on growth and innovation in the domestic violence realm. We plan to invest in advancing in our technologies, expand our service offered on a corporate level, and continue fostering and promoting healthy relationships within the community. Our goal is to solidify Arin’s Nesting Place as a domestic violence resource, recognized not only for the quality of our service to be proactive in addressing domestic violence, our approach in our attempt to keep our survivors safe, and for our commitment to community well-being and our position in ending all violence within our community.
