We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Adrianna Sutton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Adrianna below.
Adrianna, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
I think in order to be successful, you need to stay consistent, work hard, and don’t give up. Some months are slower than others for me personally. In this time, I use it to think of new ideas, techniques and I plan for the upcoming year. Working hard is the key to success in my opinion. What you put in, is what you get out.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Adrianna Sutton. I am from Lafayette, Tennessee and I am twenty one years old. I got into the photography industry when I was sixteen. It was a hobby that turned into a business for me! I started out taking photos of friends and then people started booking me. My photography business kept me employed throughout high school, college, and now I’m full time after college. I photograph families, seniors, couples, weddings, kids, etc. I think the main thing that sets me apart from others is my delivery time. I deliver my galleries 24-48 hours after the photoshoot. But also, I make sure to really get to know my clients and bond with them! Last year I got my own photography studio in my hometown, so I’m really proud to have that .
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience on social media firstly through hometown connections! Then, I started doing giveaways where people would have to follow me to be entered to win. I made sure the prizes were for local people only, so this kept my audience close to home! Then, I started a senior rep program. Every year I have over 50 applicants apply to be a rep. Reps are high school seniors who want photos made. In order to get discounts, they must post my photos and encourage others to book with me. I choose girls from surrounding counties near me. Now I have followers from all over!
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
It did! When I was in high school and college I did photography part time while focusing on school. I graduated college in May of 2022 with a business degree. I decided to see if I could do photography full time before trying to peruse a job in a different field. So, I took a leap of faith and put everything I had into my business. And it was so rewarding. I stayed booked up, and did multiple shoots a day. A client took me to DisneyWorld in October of 2023. We did her senior photos there. And I’ve also been traveling with a company called Epic Cons. I photograph their conventions for them. All of these things I would have missed out on if I would have been part time. So, it’s been a blessing to be able to do what I love every single day.
