Hi Adriana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?

Throughout my professional career, I always dreamed of having my own business. Of creating something that was personal to my own values, mission, and vision. I have spent my career working in education and during the pandemic I was able to start exploring new areas of interest. I gained several certifications, including becoming a Reiki Master, Spiritual Life Coach, Crystal Healer, and Certified Career Services Professional. This laid the foundation for the spiritual business I was dreaming of. Honestly, I had no idea of how to start a business! The first step for me was acquiring a business license and coming up with a business name, Lunar Northwest. Then I purchased liability insurance and developed a website. My clients come mostly from my website, a Google map search, and referrals, so the website is very important. I had to think of the feel of the website, the color scheme, the photos, and the services to be included. I also decided that I wanted to rent a space instead of host clients out of my home, so I asked around and found an amazing space to rent that is close to my house. My business is now thriving and I am grateful that I took the leap to open it. The best advice I have for new professionals is to consider your audience and think about your ideal client. Then ask yourself what that client would be looking for in services or products, what would make your business stand out, and how to make it unique or special. For each client I work with I tailor the session to their needs, bring in tools to support them, take notes to remember them later, and provide gifts. Making a positive impression will help you get Google reviews, which in turn will attract more clients.

Adriana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

After spending fifteen years working in the field of education, I began the process of my own spiritual awakening. This started with the purchase of a beautiful fluorite crystal tower and connecting to the energy of the stone. I spent years researching crystals and the healing powers they possess. After teaching several crystal classes, I started to dabble in essential oils and other healing modalities. I utilized the power of accessing holistic tools to heal my own body, mind, and soul which sent me on a journey to offer healing and support to others. I became a reiki master, crystal healer, and a spiritual life coach. I am a working mom and so I know how hard it can be to care for yourself, and also how essential it is. Taking care of ourselves in paramount in healing our lives. I am fully present during the sessions I offer to clients and hold space for the client to receive deep healing.

I started Lunar Northwest in 2020 to share about holistic healing and wellness practices. My practice has evolved from a jewelry designer to the role of a healer. The idea of Lunar Northwest was formed around my love for the Pacific Northwest and the moon. The beauty that surrounds us in Washington state is truly incredible. The moon dictates monthly cycles around aligning our energy. And I call my higher self ‘Luna’ for she holds great wisdom beyond what I can comprehend.

The services I provide include Reiki Energy Healing, Reiki Energy Training, Holistic Healing (which includes Spiritual Life Coaching), Crystal Healing, and Vogel Light Therapy. I also craft crystal jewelry, crystal pendulums, essential oil blends, and other ethically sourced, handmade goods. I have also published a book (guided journal) called Align Your Energy and Find Your Vibrancy, A Crystal-Infused Guided Journal for Healing Your Body, Mind, and Spirit, which is available on Amazon.

Most clients come to me who are new to spirituality and need some guidance on the spiritual awakening process. I work with clients from a range of ages and life stages who are needing some support. This is anything from dealing with the loss of loved ones and the grief that comes with it, to healing the inner child, and learning about ways to take care of yourself. With each client I hold a safe space to process emotions, I clear away negative energy, I provide oracle card readings, and I give healing reiki energy.

My services are unique in the fact that I tailor each session based on client needs, from the oracle deck I bring, the crystals I select, and the tools (such as sound healing and light therapy) that I use during a session. I follow my intuition when working with clients and each session is special.

I am proud that I put a lot of energy and attention into every client interaction. Everyone matters as an individual person and my role is to help support them on their journey. I want clients to know that Lunar Northwest supports their wellness and healing journey in a truly beautiful way.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

My clients are amazing! My strategy for attracting them starts with client interactions. Every phone call, email, and appointment is given my full attention. I make a good first impression by connecting, listening, and using coaching strategies to determine client needs. After a client leaves a session, they feel as though they received guidance on the issue they came in for. They feel better after their energy is cleared and balanced with reiki. This results in many repeat clients, referrals directly from clients who came in for services, and positive reviews. Having positive reviews on Google allows for your business to show up when someone does a Google search for the service they are looking for. Then they are directed to your website, which can provide additional details. This includes clear information on services you provide on your website, which is essential to attracting clients. A website such as Square Space can also keep a list of clients who want to be informed through a newsletter, as well as individual client information. You can stay in touch with clients through a newsletter or other outreach. Overtime, you will build a list of regular clients and grow your business.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

In the coaching and spiritual services industry, you are often told to just take a risk and leave everything and then you will be instantly successful overnight. After completing a coaching training, the message they delivered was around instant success. When I first launched my business I did believe I would have clients as soon as I published my website. What I had to learn was that it takes time to grow a business! I have stayed working in the education sector while working on my business, so that I have financial stability. This has provided me with the means to get started – to fund everything I needed for my business. I have been able to pay for things that make my business stand out, such as a Vogel crystal light therapy lamp for chakra healing, because I have other income. So the biggest lesson is really that it does take time to grow a business and it is okay to not take a huge leap and just quit everything else. Over time you will make more connections, have more opportunities, and meet more people, but it often does not happen overnight. Just trust the process to unfold, you got this!
