Adriana , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump right into the heart of things. Outsiders often think businesses or industries have much larger profit margins than they actually do – the reason is that outsiders are often unaware of the biggest challenges to profitability in various industries – what’s the biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
One of my biggest challenges has been the one population of event decorators. It’s always a challenge, especially having to hear the usual “I’ve found someone cheaper” I had to find what best fits me and clientele. Something I always tell them prior to starting on quotes is “Quality over Quantity” do you want to wow your guest when they are walking into your event, I always want my clients to be able to brag about their event. I want them to look back at pictures and be proud they booked with me. It hasn’t been easy, but finding my comfortable profitability in this industry has paid off.
Adriana , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started in the Event industry a little over 3 years ago. Mainly focused on balloons, slowly started venturing into offering backdrops to get more into all types of events. Beginning of 2022 I decided to push myself and offer marquee rentals which have been a huge hit for me. Living 35 mins south of Dallas can be difficult to find certain vendors, so when the idea came to mind I had to do it. Fast forward to the end of 2022, I told myself I wanted to do more and I’ve done just that. I officially entered into the full event planning/decorating era. Offering everything you can think of to start planning a wedding to a Quinceañera. Sky is the limit right? Being able to be my clients 1 stop shop in Ennis, Tx has truly been a blessing over the past year. Being able to have my clients deal with 1 vendor for decor and linens and not have them worry about all the stress is my main goal.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media is a hit or miss. It’s definitely discouraging but it’s all about faking it till you make it! I know in the beginning I was just trying to get myself out there and it was all about putting myself and my work out there! So any opportunity I had to create a balloons wall, garlands with florals or school events I put myself out there. Never stop posting, you never know who’s looking and can be like “oh I know a girl” or “I know just the business that I can call”
Reels is popular record the set ups, post them let the public see it’s not as easy as Amazon makes it seem.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Facebook has definitely been my main audience. Instagram has picked up but will always be grateful for the Facebook platform. Word of mouth has also been amazing & in my small town Ennis, everyone knows who to call when you need something.
