We recently connected with Adriana Bitonti and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Adriana thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I started my candle business in 2022 in honor of my mother Melinda who was a breast cancer warrior who passed in 2017. I combined my love for candles and me wanting to highlight special causes and needs to give back to the community. All candles are made with love and truly meaningful to each cause they stand for. Whether that be cancer, diseases or candles we buy for fun. My ultimate goal is to bring joy with each candle lit. A percentage of all proceeds made will go towards funding cancer research in hopes of one day finding a cure.
Adriana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am originally from California and now residing in Arizona. I have a degree in the medical field specializing in medical aesthetics and when originally moving to Arizona in 2020, my ultimate goal was to open my own Medspa specializing in hair and tattoo removal. Once the pandemic hit, I had a lot more time to think about ways to honor my mother more help myself heal and give myself something to do during this grieving journey that I’m still currently on and also share her story with the world. My mother and I both loved candles and I had never made one before in my life and I just decided to use that time to learn everything I could, do a bunch of testing, nail down a brand and a mission and really put my all into every detail. Aside from being a small business owner, I host pop-up markets as well and I am a stay at home mom to a toddler boy as well as a wife!
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Markets and pop ups! I have met so many amazing people doing markets and pop-ups! Some of my really good friends now are from previous markets that I have attended or hosted. It’s also really amazing when you share your vulnerability and grief to the world the type of people that it can bring you to. I have met so many people that are either in the same boat as me or are cancer survivors, have lost someone close to them and it feels so amazing to just share those stories with each other. My market booth is a safe place. There has been a lot of smiles and a lot of tears there.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media is hard. I’m not even going to lie. It takes a lot of effort and time and patience! I am no social media expert, but my best advice is just to be yourself, really love your brand and just put out there things that make you happy! You may not find your audience right away, but they will eventually find you.
