We recently connected with Adriana Berg and have shared our conversation below.
Adriana, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I always knew I was interested in photography but it wasn’t until people starting reaching out to me for photo sessions that I considered making it into a business. Once I started to have more inquires I took the next step by making social media accounts, a website, and a formal business structure. Through creating easy to navigate customer touch points such as implementing Google Forms for bookings, I have been able to gain many new clients and provide a great customer experience! I also began to accept new session types such as large groups and events as I grew my business and now offer a wide range of services for my clients. Another large factor in the execution of my business was word of mouth marketing. The community in Minnesota and especially Duluth is like no other and I know that I wouldn’t be where I am today without their kind words and thoughtfulness!

Adriana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Adriana Berg and I am the owner of Adriana Photo. I started my business in 2018 solely by saying yes to inquires for photography sessions and from there I was hooked. I have a deep passion for the art of photography, creating memories, and connecting with people. I aim to create photos that show who my clients really are through laughs, conversations, and a comfortable environment. My goal in every session is to make it feel like we are just hanging out and there happens to be a camera involved! I produce photos that are candid, bright, colorful, and full of life. I love my business and everyone I have the opportunity to meet. I can’t wait to keep investing into my passion and continuing to pursue dream!

How did you build your audience on social media?
I started two social media pages for Adriana Photo back in 2018. Since then I have focused on growing these accounts to target my two customer segments that are most prevalent. I aim for weekly posts during busy season as well as stories and IG reels. One thing that really helped me to gain visibility was posting IG reels to popular sounds. I was able to use a mix of bts footage as well as the finished product to make a large amount of content in a short period of time. These reels also showed my customers more of who I am and how I run my sessions, which is what every customer wants right?! A preview of what they are going to invest in. In addition, another big part of my success in my digital marketing efforts was creating consistency across all of my channels. I always make sure to update my social media pages, website, and google forms when anything changes. These efforts show my customers that I am organized and that I care about creating a seamless experience for them!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Going off of the last question, I would say my digital marketing has been a huge factor in creating a clientele base in addition to word of mouth marketing. In the world of photography, social media is a powerful tool. Most if not all of my clients were first exposed to my work on social media even if they first heard of my business from a previous client. In addition offering discounted prices for sessions in an area that I am not as familiar with has helped immensely with getting my business into new niches. For example, I offered discounted rates for large groups for the past two summers and now I have enough inquires to charge a set rate with confidence. In the future, I hope to use these strategies to continue expanding my service offerings in addition to growing my clientele further.
