Adrian , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
At the moment I decided to start my business, it was a great challenge. At that time I worked for another company where I was no longer happy, but I had to stay there because I needed the money for my family. I had to work twice as much. Once the work day was over, I ran out to work in my business. At first I only had one client and that made me happy.
This process took about three or four years while I strengthened my business I kept working very hard.
The recommendation for those who decide to undertake is not to get discouraged, and always have a goal. knowing that there could be many tests but that they can all be overcome.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I HAVE BEEN A DENTIST FOR MORE THAN 13RS, I LIVE IN CALI COLOMBIA, SOUTH AMERICA. AND OVER TIME, UNDERSTANDING WHAT IT MEANS TO HAVE A BEAUTIFUL AND FUNCTIONAL SMILE AND HOW IT CAN IMPROVE THE SELF-ESTEEM OF MANY PEOPLE IS WHAT MAKES ME MOST PROUD OF MY JOB. IN ADDITION TO SEEING THAT NOT EVERYTHING REVOLVES IN HAVING A PERFECT SMILE, IT IS ABOUT THAT ALL MY PATIENTS UNDERSTAND HOW IMPORTANT THE TEETH AND THE MOUTH ARE IN ALL THE FUNCTIONS OF OUR BODY AND THE IMPORTANCE OF CARING FOR THEM.
I APPRECIATE THAT MY WORK IS RECOGNIZED, VALUED AND THAT PEOPLE WHO LIVE OUTSIDE MY COUNTRY TAKE A PLANE SO THAT I CAN HELP THEM AND MAKE THEM SMILE, IT IS SOMETHING THAT MOTIVATES ME TO DO THINGS BETTER EVERY DAY.
I THINK THAT A DIFFERENTIAL FACTOR IS ALWAYS BEING AT THE FOREFRONT IN HOW TO IMPROVE DENTAL CARE WITH THE HELP OF TECHNOLOGY, THIS HAS BEEN A TOOL THAT HELPS US REDUCE PATIENT CARE TIMES, BE LESS PAINFUL AND MORE COMFORTABLE FOR PATIENTS.
I THINK THAT BEING HAPPY AND DOING THINGS WITH PASSION AND DEDICATION HAS ALLOWED ME TO GET WHERE I AM NOW… AND THIS HAS MADE ALL GOOD THINGS BEGIN TO COME TO YOU.
CHALLENGES ARE ALWAYS PART OF THE PROCESS AND I ENJOY A LOT WHEN THEY ARE PRESENT, BECAUSE THE CHALLENGES TAKE YOU TO THE NEXT LEVEL MAYBE MORE DIFFICULT THAN THE PREVIOUS AND IT IS ABOUT IMPROVING DAY BY DAY.
LIFE LESSONS: BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. DESPITE NOT BEING CLEAR OF THE RESULT AT WHAT TIME IT WILL ARRIVE AND BEING SURE THAT YOU DESERVE IT. ALWAYS BELIEVE IN YOUR SKILLS
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I went back in time, of course I would choose this profession again, at this moment I understand the importance of being able to make many people happy by smiling again. That has made me confirm that I made the best decision
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The best strategy to keep customers is word of mouth. a good experience represents a happy customer and this brings more customers. That does require a lot of patience and time.
