We were lucky to catch up with Adrian Paul recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Adrian thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Hi l’m Adrian Paul, owner and founder of Pride Beauty. We are a LGBTQ Latinx owned and operated business. It started out of my love for makeup. I love what I do, and I love creating products that can help people express themselves & help them feel even more beautiful. I think in the world we live in today we often glamorize many things. we try to filter and make everything look like a picture perfect Instagram post. However. Starting a business is far from easy, you have to work really hard and truly love what you do, So much hard work needs to be done behind the scenes, especially when you a have small team. I have achieved my goals by constantly pushing myself. As cliche as it sounds, The sky is the limit. All you have to do is believe in yourself and take the first step. Taking Risks has become a normal thing in my journey. Getting my business started was one of the biggest risks I have taken. But what people don’t recognize is that What happens next is just as hard as what got started. When you launch your business you’re going to hear many congratulations but no one is going to congratulate you for keeping the business going month after month. year after year. that can make it harder for business owners to keep going because there is not a lot of reinforcement on a daily basis for keeping the business running.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
When I first moved to Los Angeles I started working with different brands and did the work to educate myself to learning the basics of running a business. Years later I launched Pride Beauty, a LGBTQ Latinx owned and operated business. It all started out of my love for makeup. I love what I do, and I love creating products that can help people express themselves & help them feel even more beautiful.
Once you find what makes you happy that’s all the fuel you need. Always remember, it starts with self-love. You need to truly believe that you are deserving of more, & that your dreams are worth pursuing.
You are the author of your own story, and every chapter is an opportunity for growth, love, and boundless possibilities.
How did you build your audience on social media?
By being inclusive. We share photos on our Instagram of different skin tones, genders etc. It’s the thing I’m most proud of as a beauty brand owner.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I really do have the best job. I love what I do and I love meeting new people and hearing their stories & sharing our love for makeup.
