We were lucky to catch up with Adrian Mompoint recently and have shared our conversation below.
Adrian, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents worked very hard to earn everything they have. We weren’t wealthy, but always had enough. They taught me discipline and humbleness and when going through tough times, the storm shall pass.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I always loved films. My father and I both worked at the same movie theater for 15+ years. I’ve seen anything and everything. I thought about acting here and there throughout my life, but did not act upon it until my mid twenties. I thought for awhile my passion was to play professional football or to become a police officer. Once I realized neither of those professions was in my future, I decided to take acting classes while I was still working at the movie theater I’ve been working at since the age of 15. I did a lot of background work on films and was lucky enough to earn a supporting role through my first audition for the film “November Criminals”(2017). My first opportunity as a stunt man was through being a stand in for Winston Duke on the film ‘Spenser Confidential'(2020). I was asked by stunt coordinator Jeff Dashnaw if I would be interested in being in a scene were I would be fighting Mark Wahlberg. I said yes without hesitation. I believe by me showing up to set every time I was needed lead me to such a great opportunity. I became a big & tall model for Wilhelmina Models by going to a open casting call in nyc. I remember before I left home on my way to the open call I said to my mother “I have to spend money I don’t have to earn money I will have. I drove down there with $40 dollars and half a tank of gas. I’m happy I took a chance because it all worked out.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
‘The Last Lecture’ by Randy Pausch impacted my way of thinking and pushed me to be more of a risk taker. The book is about the author who is dying of cancer, but still living his life to the fullest. There isn’t an audition I won’t turn down. Even if the character is opposite of how I look or think. I’ll always believe there is that chance I will be selected for this job. To be successful starts with belief. You must believe in yourself before anyone else does. Also listening to motivational speakers (Les Brown)(Eric Thomas) are very helpful. By hearing positive affirmations over and over you are allowing it to reach your subconscious.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
You’re going to hear more “no’s” than anything, but you can’t let that stop you for when you are about to give up that’s when the tide will turn.
