We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Adrian Lopez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Adrian below.
Adrian, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Honestly, everything was done by me, I didn’t need any tutorials, I just learned how to do things myself, and when I needed the help, I’ll kindly ask my friends or parents to help me figure something out, I don’t think anything could’ve sped up my learning process as everything I would craft music-wise would take me maybe 3-5 hours, music should be something every artist should take their time and care into it no matter how long its gonna take for something to sound completely finished. The skills I thought were the most essential were the tools. Microphones, Interface, Laptop, anything that could’ve gotten the job done really. The obstacles that stood in the way of my music process was writing, as it was a little bit of a struggle for me to start writing things that could fit in a actual song, but that got better as the more i dived into listening more and experiencing things in life.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am Adrian De Jesus Lopez, also known as MORTOX, I am 15 years old turning 16, January 27th. I got into the music industry when I was 12, I started producing first before focusing more on my vocal and writing abilities , and I can say producing skills was pretty great for my first start, I got a lot of positive feedback and constructive criticism that i took lightly and used it to try to improve and make a better sound for myself and others to enjoy, Ever since I was young, I was surrounded by Artistic people wether its from my household, people from school or online. Those fueled me to pursue to do what I’m creating for a professional career now. I’m very confident in what i do in my music at such a young age, I feel i can put myself apart from others due to what I’m crafting, My work ethic is pretty good in both doing it alone and also having a team with me to support me through the creative process, I also make it easier for whoever i can pass the work to by making my vocals neat so i can pass it over to whoever is mixing or mastering the song. I’m very proud of the amazing people I’ve collected to start a team/alliance over the course of a few months called “Awakening”, also very proud of finding a manager that can help me distribute music, share creative ideas, and having a very good personal bond with them. I want my current and potential fans to notice my charm and ambitions for the music I’m making at such a young age, and I want each song that I have created/will create to relate to many different peoples unique experiences.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My main goal is to give inspiration for new artists that are coming in the underground or just starting to give them the confidence in their music to pursue it professionally. Another goal I have is being noticed by big artists/notable people in the industry, along with gaining new fans. One example is that for my announcement for one of my EPs called “tear up” a couple weeks ago, a producer by the name of “ryderoncrack” who’s work for engineers like MIKE DEAN, and has production credits for ¥$ (Kanye West & Ty Dolla $ign on VULTURES 2 “SLIDE”), and KayCyy, liked the post and left a co-sign.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I first started growing my audience by reaching out a group of friends who liked the posts relating to music, reposting it on their stories, I also reached out to people that I wanted to work with by first showing off my music, and the most of them gave me positive feedback and constructive criticism, one of the examples is my new manager, Malaki Alighieri, I showed him a couple of my songs through Discord, and he reached out asking me if he wanted to work, we did a bunch of songs, one of my favorites is “Challenge” which was featured and produced by him, it was our first song together and it got alot of attention. My advice for those just starting is just being confident, if people turn you down for a couple reasons, that doesn’t mean you should give up trying, eventually your gonna find someone that is genuinely looking forward to working with you and helping you music-wise, or any other bond youd like to start with the person, you’ll get there, only thing that matters is you at the end of day and atleast your trying to put an effort into reaching out.
