We recently connected with Adrian Lopez and have shared our conversation below.
Adrian , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Walking and observing, getting to know the fashion and advertising market, always looking for what each brand wants and represents in photography My mission is to give the customer what they need
Adrian , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
With a BA in Industrial Design, Adrian developed a keen eye for visual composition and managing the space. He started in the analog photography era, where attention to detail is the cornerstone. Fashion, lifestyle, and sports are the styles where he finds himself at home, always looking to set the next trend through creativity, visual strength, and strong editing skills.
Adrian is a bold visual explorer, working with rebel angles, futuristic editing, and striking poses. He knows how to make a set the best place to work, exceeding all expectations.
Adrian Lopez relocated from Guanajuato, Mexico to Austin, TX to pursue a career in photography. To support this endeavor Adrian worked up to 60 hours a week at various restaurants as a line-cook. With a passion that exceeded his situation, Adrian was able to purchase equipment and practice his craft with time he had away from his full-time job. Adrian moved to New York City where he was able to work with high-profile modeling agencies Wilhelmeina, Ford, and Fenton. Adrian worked with world class athletes including Olympic fencers, swimmers, and even NFL players. Adrian is now residing in Dallas, TX with representation with LA based Dragon Fly Agency. He currently stays busy working primarily in fashion and product photography. He has worked with esteemed locals including Todrick Hall, LeeAnne Locken, and Brad Pritchett. Adrian offers his services to non-profit organizations such as Black Tie Dinner, Legacy Counseling and DIFFA. Other events include SXSW, Austin City Limits, RuPaul’s DragCon, Comic Con, & New York Fashion Week.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
New York… while I initially felt my efforts would lead me to working full-time as a fashion photographer I quickly learned that you need more than talent and hard work to sustain viability in that city.
My work was well reviewed. I worked with the top modeling agencies, actors, olympic athletes, NFL players, but without the right connections and representation you find that you need more than talent and hard work to have a career as a photographer in New York. I realized I needed to move back to Texas. I wouldn’t let that be the end of my photography journey. I found representation in Dallas, TX with Los Angeles based talent agency The Dragonfly Agency. Working closely with Dallas Agency Director Loren Whitsett, I found that not all fashion photography opportunities are limited to NYC. I am currently finding myself booked for many fashion and product photography projects with jobs taking me back and forth to Los Angeles.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I have always been driven by wanting to provide outstanding photos to clients making my mark- when people see a campaign I shot for they will automatically know its Adrian Lopez Photography.
