We were lucky to catch up with Adrian Lazos Martinez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Adrian Lazos thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
The moment I realized I wanted to pursue a creative path came in 3rd grade, in Mr. Ferguson’s class. I drew a picture of Ash and Pikachu from Pokémon, free-handing every detail with care. I gave it to my teacher and to my surprise, he hung it above his desk for the whole class to see. As an 8-year-old, that was a huge boost of confidence. It made me feel like my art was valued and it planted the seed for my creative journey. I’ll always be grateful to Mr. Ferguson for that—it was a small gesture, but it shifted the course of my life.

Adrian Lazos, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Adrian Lazos Martinez, but I go by Cabezita in the creative world. I focus on art, music and design, and what sets me apart is the passion and personal touch I bring to every project. I pour my heart and soul into everything I create. I’m especially proud of my determination to bring my ideas to life and share them with the world. Contributing to the vast landscape of art and music is incredibly rewarding, it’s fulfilling to add my own color and sound to it all.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding part of being a creative artist is the ability to connect with others. It’s about building community and reminding ourselves that we’re not alone in this world. Through art and music, I’ve come to realize how much we all have in common, no matter where we come from or how we were raised. It’s a powerful reminder that art and music unite us all, and that’s something truly beautiful.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I believe everyone has a creative spark, we all have that innate drive to create something bigger than ourselves. It just manifests differently in each person. So, when it comes to struggles, I don’t think mine as a creative are any different from those of the woman sitting across from me on the trolley. We’re both working toward something, whether it’s for our families, our careers or ourselves. The difference is, I find my joy in art and music, and I’m brave enough to share what’s inside me with the world.
