Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adrian Jstn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Adrian, thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
I definitely feel like I’ve been misunderstood as a person when it comes to my career. Many people are not born with a strong drive to make each of their dreams come true… but I was. So often people confuse my focus and think I’m being standoffish or mean. When I’m really just thinking more about who I am and what I do now affects who I am and what I do in the future. When you have a talent that you intend to make into a career, you must be very careful of every step you take. You always need to be two steps ahead of any narrative.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve been singing since I was five. I was literally the youngest person in the choir and on the praise team. I entered the entertainment industry when I was eight in regional musical theatre. When you’re young & working in the industry you have to be very disciplined and you have to be more mature than most people your age. The reason a lot of big companies don’t hire kids in the industry is because they act like kids. You really have to be disciplined and focused. After my work in theatre I spread into TV/FIlM and I just booked my first movie “The Color Purple” in 2022.
Being that I’ve been in the industry for 10+ years I have a lot of knowledge on how to be successful as a young entertainer & CEO. So I created my company Adrian Jstn Entertainment LLC in 2022 to create more opportunities for people to artistically create. I really want people my age who are less fortunate than me to know that they can turn their dreams into reality. I’m really proud of the relationships and contacts I’ve made. I met a lot of people who truly love and support me.
I want people to know that everything happens for a reason & everything happens when it’s time. God has a plan for your life and I will continue to dream, create, inspire and follow the plan that god has for me.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I’ve always wanted to live in New York and I wanted to go to school but I didn’t think it would happen for me. So I auditioned for a school I thought would suffice. I got accepted initially and I flew out to audition for the school and I ended up not getting into the musical theatre program so I couldn’t go. Fast forward to June, I went to a Summer Intensive Connecticut and the school told me they wanted me to audition for the next school year. I auditioned and I got in the school with a scholarship. Connecticut is very close to New York so I’m very blessed and I’m very proud that I didn’t let the first downfall discourage me from auditioning for another school.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
Ive had to learn that you cannot expect anyone else but yourself to believe in or understand your dreams. People are always going to have their opinions on what they think is better for you. The only thing you can do if follow your heart and stay true to you.
