We were lucky to catch up with Adriahnna Curry recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Adriahnna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
Back in 2011, I started a blog called “Mieux Mag” that highlighted artists in Florida. Written interviews, written articles, and our yearly award show were our highlights and our main focus. When COVID hit in March 2020, we had to cancel our 8th annual award show that we had been planning for months. Not to mention, with the rise of TikTok, people weren’t spending the time to read full features – I knew something had to give.
In October that year, I ultimately decided to retire the Mieux brand and create something new + fresh. A new platform that was mostly visual and unquestionably entertaining – even if you didn’t know the artist featured. That’s how the idea of Arkive was created. After we decided on a name, we reached out to some of the artists we’ve met along the years that were passionate about their craft and turned it into an original media series.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Arkive is a multi-media network and digital library, currently based in Tampa, Fl. We are a team of content creators that document + share the stories of artists and businesses alike. These stories are shared via written articles, photoshoots, videos, and original media series – written, produced, and directed by Arkive.
We offer traditional promotional services as well as media production for artists / companies looking to boost their reach + engagement with visual content. We work closely with creatives on sponsored series that highlight their talents and showcase them in an entertaining way.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding part about having Arkive (or any platform I’ve had or may have in the future) is the ability to provide opportunities – even if they’re small! Whether it’s connecting artists that didn’t know each other prior, putting someone on stage for the first time, being someone’s first interview.. You never know where things could go and we love being able to give artists that chance!

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
Some may find it hard to believe but our entire team has full-time jobs outside of Arkive, including myself. I wouldn’t have been able to afford website hosting fees, advertising, camera equipment, or team tips to Miami + Orlando without it. A lot of the money I make at my day job goes directly to fund my business – but for now, I’m fine with that!! I know that as long as I’m dedicated and maintain consistency, I’ll see growth. It’s only been 1 year and I’m amazed at my progress, imagine 5 or 10.
