Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adria Chavers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Adria, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I’ve always considered myself an artist. Always. But I never considered making a business out of it. A.C.Creativity was birthed out of the pandemic. Our family lost someone very close and very suddenly. It was through that experience that I said to myself that I was going to do something with this passion and these skills. I wasn’t going to let another day go by – we never know when our last day will be.
I’ve been the Owner/Artist for more than two years now, and I’ve enjoyed every moment of learning how to be a business owner and meeting new people. I’ve also been able to reflect inwards and express what’s on my mind through creative expression.
I do wonder sometimes where my business would be if I had pursued this journey earlier, now knowing how far I’ve come in two years. If I had started my business before saying ‘I Do’ and starting a family, I believe I would have a stronger community of artists and supporters and I would be collaborating with more artists and pursuing more opportunities through competitions, grants, and galleries. But I’m on this journey now, so I look forward to what the future holds!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
A.C.Creativity is a platform of creative expression. Our tagline is ‘Art For All’ and that is what I believe – art is for all! I’ve taken many art classes throughout my school years, pursuing a BA in Studio Art. With all the skills and knowledge I’ve acquired, I am able to offer a range of servics including customized commissioned art, craft kits, paint parties, paint pours, and portraits of people and animals. My goal is to bring life to the art I create through the use of vibrant and lively colors. I suppose my style is a reflection of the vibrancy of the Hispanic culture.
I am most proud of how far I’ve come as an independent small-business owner – I shop for my own supplies, I am my own accountant, I manage my social media, I take my own photographs, and more!
I would like potential clients to know that every opportunities is a gift in my eyes. A challenge, a growth opportunity for me as an artist. I’ve been frustrated in the past with some commission requestions, but I push through, and through those experience, hone my skills and craft. I look forward to future projects!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I used to think I had to create art a certain way. It has taken some time, but I now have the mindfulness to express my inner thoughts and feelings however I chose. Art cannot please everyone, but it should please the artist, as long as they are true to themselves. Art can be anything you want it to be.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Putting a piece of my soul in whatever I am creating and being able to share that with the world. When an artist truly understands their style and what they stand for, they are unwavering and people will follow them because they are genuine and authentic.
