We recently connected with Adreyauna Lewers and have shared our conversation below.
Adreyauna, appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
During year 4 of my business, Ink to Prosperity, which is this year I have taken a “risk” to niche down even more than what I offered in the past 3 years. For 3 years, I focused on bring spiritual and personal guidance to any and everyone. I was new to business so it seemed smart to open my doors to all. But after some troubling experiences with a few white clients and clients that just wanted me listen to their problems without action, I was finally ready to niche into what the biz gurus call “your ideal client”.
I chose to focus on melanated leaders and entrepreneurs that want to work from their heart and seek to operate holistically instead of compartmentalizing their mind and heart needs. I choose to work with black and brown people because as much I love helping people gain clarity and create plans, I do not seek to hold space for white clients that are not interested in doing the deep work of decolonization. As a black woman, I don’t need to hold space for them nor do I want to because at this point in my life, I can’t jeopardize my safety. And while I had some really amazing white clients, it’s more advantageous of me to center black and brown people instead of all people. That way, potential clients who are white, will know that they can only work with me if they’re already doing the work. This “risk” of proclaiming who I want to work with felt dangerous because I was conditioned from birth to be of service to all. This risk also triggered some old societal wounds around “black people don’t support their own” but after some journaling, I realized that I had 3 years of proof that showcased the very opposite.
The second risk of niching to heart-led leaders and entrepreneurs was born out of my own struggles as a business owner. Often times when I would seek the guidance of other business mentors, they told me “it’s just business, you can’t bring your heart”. When I tell you that the hairs on my neck would stand everytime I heard it. I just KNEW that there was a world in which I could be heart-led AND be an entrepreneur. So using my own tarot cards, journals, and intuition…I set out to discover ways to do just that. In that discovery journey, I tested out different services, social media marketing tactics, and business models. What I landed on was Seasonal Entrepreneurship. This is the idea that my business is crafted to fit my own natural rhythms and needs instead of the other way around. For example, the fall time is when I am most inspired to indulge in self-study or taking classes for my own growth. Because of that, I will no longer offer 1:1 or group classes during that period but instead will create more art, physical products, and content for my audience to interact with. I had to learn this the hard way but now that I’ve found my flow, my business and my energy is better because of it. This is the magic that I want to share with other heart-led entrepreneurs! That they can create projects, businesses, and services that work WITH their energy and pace instead of feeling the capitalist push to always be “performing”. Yes, the risk is that you may get the formula wrong and have to retest a new theory. But don’t you do that anyway? Isn’t that the beauty of being an entrepreneur? A trailblazer?
So these risks are actually the catalysts that broke open my business to new adventures!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Ink to Prosperity is a vow and a testimony. I2P provides personal and career development for black and brown heart-led leaders and entrepreneurs. The founder, Adreyauna, strives to decolonize the healing space while bringing guidance that is practical, authentic, and heart-led. We seek to use the ink we wield to secure prosperous opportunities that are ancestrally ingrained in our DNA. Through classes & coaching, we support heart-led and melanated individuals in achieving more from life. While that might look different for each of us, it always centers on cultivating healthy relationships with ourselves, our finances, and our dreams.
Right now, I have an online community circle called Soul Support for melanated leaders and spiritual entrepreneurs. On a monthly basis, we’ll take actionable steps together, with the goal of gaining more clarity on your goals… so you can reach your ultimate prosperity! It’s a membership based service that can be started and stopped at any point. We’ll spend July through August focusing on defining “heart”, getting clear on our values, and testing our definitions in real-time. It’s a mix of live classes, recorded lessons, text chats, and guest speakers with intuitive exercises sprinkled in between.
I believe that we are all magical and we come to this life to master certain lessons. My gift is to coach you through those lessons and be an open channel for Divine guidance to shine through. My creed as a psychic prosperity adviser is to be curious, resourceful and expansive.
Remember, healing is ever-changing and continuous. Innovate and prosper, my loves!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The biggest thing that helped maintain my reputation was that I was never afraid to ask for feedback from people I provided a service for or collaborated with. From the very beginning, I took time to master my craft by listening to how people received my work and what THEIR impact was instead of what I intended it to be. From there, I learned that I was providing deeper and more intimate work than I initially set out to do. Listening to my clients was better than any business coach session because it was real-time impact instead of being based on my own feelings and reflections. My clients were invited to provide feedback in many types of ways: written, through surveys, video format, and in real-time. Then I would find ways to implement their feedback instead of just letting it sit. Some feedback wasn’t necessary for me to act on immediately but some was. Lastly, I am always upfront with my clients when I’m new to something or trying something different so they’re aware of certain learning curves. I stopped trying to operate from the “I know all” and stepped into the “we’re collaborating on this together” and that skyrocketed the trust my clients had in me. I own my mistakes even when it stresses me out, and that keeps the people coming back! But that also means I expect my clients to own up to their mistakes so we can course correct instead of keeping me in the dark. The work we do is mutual not one-sided!

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn the idea that I could purchase someone’s social media “formula” and it work exactly like they said it would. That was a tough one because I’m not great at consistent marketing and thought if I just copy/paste, I’ll get 1 million followers. First of all, I’m not going to post three times a day, that shit is for the birds. Secondly, being in the spiritual field, I didn’t want to overload my audience with all this “forced” content. So instead I looked at what worked for me in the past and copied that with some insight from what social media managers suggested. I did more videos which was easier than creating a Canva graphic. The one thing that has really helped was batch creation, everything else, I just test new tactics and keep note of what lands well with my audience. So ultimately, my formula is what works for my business.
