We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Adonis Tsilimparis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Adonis, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I have been lucky enough to earn a living doing what I love. Scoring music for Films and TV has been a lucrative and fulfilling endeavor. It wasn’t easy though. I had been playing on Bands for years making a small living. It took a while for me to find a way to earn a substantial income in this business. There are many ways to accomplish that, but you need to figure out where your
strengths are and focus on that. Some people have a knack for teaching music, others might be more adept at production.
You have to know your limits and be really honest with yourself.
I found my calling through Composing and Music Supervision.
Once I acknowledged that, it became easier to make things happen.
Adonis, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started playing music at an early age. I studied Piano and Guitar in school and then performing in bands in New York City was
my first venture into the Industry.
Having discovered my love for Film Music early on, I eventually decided to pursue that.
I have scored countless Films and TV shows along with Advertisements and Streaming Podcasts.
Recently, I teamed up with a few other professionals and create a Music production company called “Cutting Room Music”.

We approach the creative process differently.
We believe that the true nature of a good working relationship starts with communication.
Knowing your clients’ needs and wants makes all the difference.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
If someone were to ask me if “Magic” is real, I would say ‘yes’. To me, “magic” is taking a thought or an idea that only resides in your mind and then making it a physical reality. That is the most joy I get from the creative process. Materializing an idea or an emotion is true “Magic”, There are many other rewards though. I have also enjoyed inspiring others and helping up and coming artists to find their focus.
It’s important to share your talents in various ways. Helping others find their true calling is a very profound accomplishment.
It’s also the greatest feeling you can ever have.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
One thing that drives me to keep doing what I do is that I hope I can inspire others to pursue what they love. I know that many people are scared to take a chance on that and as a result, they stay on the Straight and Narrow. I’m hoping to be more of a motivator for the many people out there that wish to live out their dreams.
I work with several musical organizations and Societies that inspire young mentees on their Journey.
One of them is The Society of Composers and Lyricists. I worked with the mentorship program with them and had a great
time guiding young artists towards focusing on their musical talents.
That has certainly driven my creative Journey.
