We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Adonis Lugo a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Adonis, appreciate you joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
As a helicopter photojournalist, my mission is to bring a unique view to the public by capturing the full scope of events and stories that shape our lives.
For me, this is deeply meaningful because it embodies the power of perspective. I can offer a bird’s-eye view that can highlight the scale of a disaster, the beauty of a landscape, or the dynamic of a large public gathering in a way that ground-based reporting simply cannot.
My passion for this stems from my personal belief in the importance of awareness and understanding. I currently live in an area prone to natural disasters, and I see firsthand how crucial it is for timely and accurate information. I am a firm believer that by capturing these aerial images, I can inform the public, enhance their awareness, and sometimes even aid in life-saving efforts.
In essence, my mission is more than just news coverage; it’s about contributing to a well-informed society and driving positive change through the power of visual storytelling. This is why my work as a helicopter photojournalist is not only a job but a meaningful pursuit for a better, more connected world.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Adonis holds Masters of Fine arts in Film Production. He is an award winning film director with over 10 years of experience in the production industry. He is most known for his short film titled “Sally’s Playtime, a horror film in which won the national VideoBlocks film competition. He has provided film work for multiple celebrity clients and companies including IHeart Media, Fox News, & ABC. He currently works as the lead Helicopter Photojournalist for NBC 6 South Florida.
His social media accounts include over 20 thousand followers.
With over a decade of experience, Adonis combines technical expertise in aviation and videography to deliver unparalleled visual narratives that inform and engage the public. His work, characterized by its clarity, precision, and dramatic perspective, has been featured in leading news outlets and has played a crucial role in enhancing public understanding and awareness of significant events.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe that my reputation has been built on the foundation of consistency, dedication, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Every assignment, no matter how challenging, is an opportunity to deliver impactful footage that informs and resonates with the audience. My commitment to accuracy and timeliness ensures that the stories I capture are both reliable and relevant.
Additionally, maintaining strong professional relationships has been crucial. Collaborating with reporters, editors, and producers ensures that the final product meets the highest standards.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Honestly, I just started using my editing skills to document my journey. I really started making these videos for myself to remember years down the line. I treated my social media sort of like a diary. I think that resonated with others and my videos began to get more views. If I were to give anyone advice to someone who wants to build their social media, I would say to do it for yourself and not to please others. Your posts will come off as more “genuine” and you will build an audience who appreciates each post.
