We were lucky to catch up with Adjoa Darkwa recently and have shared our conversation below.
Adjoa , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with something countless entrepreneurs have had to figure out on the fly – how have you dealt with the rise of remote work?
As a business owner, I am proud to say that my team has successfully transitioned to remote work. We have made it work by leveraging communication tools like video conferencing and chat applications to stay connected and collaborate effectively. Clear expectations and guidelines have been established, ensuring that everyone understands their responsibilities and deadlines. While there have been challenges, such as potential communication barriers and feelings of isolation, the non-obvious benefits have been remarkable. We have witnessed increased productivity as employees enjoy the flexibility to create an optimal work environment. Work-life balance has improved, leading to happier and more engaged team members. Additionally, remote work has allowed us to tap into a global talent pool, accessing diverse skills and perspectives that enhance our team’s performance and innovation.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those that dont know me, my name is Adjoa and i’m a serial entrepreneur. I just started investing in the Real Estate world too long ago and it has been a self-educating roller coaster experience. I also own my own marketing agency and I provide the services of virtual assistance, marketing, social media management and influencer talent management. I started my agency during the pandemic. That is where I began to have the drive and spirit of entrepreneurship. Another part of my inspiration to entrepreneurship is that my parents used to own their beauty and food oriental shop in Aurora, IL when i was a kid and was unfortunately closed down due to the 2008/2009 recession. Entrepreneurship was already in my blood, the passion just needed to ignite. I found that chance to ignite my dreams and vision in 2022.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of clients for me is social media, that consists of Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin, word of mouth, friends and family along with networking event.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I was able to build my online presence on instagram when back in 2015 I was a sophomore in high school and I took a fashion construction class. This class consisted of learning the different concepts of fashion such as color theory, stitching, constructing fashion pieces etc. I really enjoyed the class and it inspired me to start a fashion page on instagram. In the beginning, my personal instagram was first a fashion page with outfit inspirations and aesthetic posts. That’s where it started. Then i began modeling for a bit in college which really contributed to a large growth of my personal instagram presence. My advice to building social media presence is finding what you’re good at whether its a hobby or a gig and display that talent to the world while being consistent.
