Aditya, appreciate you joining us today. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
Two trends are emerging in the marketing industry. One is AI, which strengthens marketing teams and processes in organizations by introducing automation, predictive analytics and personalized experiences at scale. AI-powered tools can analyze vast amounts of data to generate content ideas, optimize headlines and even write compelling copy tailored to specific audiences. AI algorithms can analyze historical campaign data, identify patterns and trends and predict the most effective strategies for future campaigns.
Then, there is the question of what to do with the data that results from the AI revolution. Say you are a marketer who has now deployed AI tools to write and analyze your website content, an AI tool to post social media content and keep up with metrics and an AI tool that tracks spent ads. All of those AI-powered systems are giving you many insights as to where your customers are finding your product, but now they all belong in their own separate platforms. The next step is to find a way to integrate the tools into one cohesive solution and make sense of all the data that they are generating. This is where we see the second trend.
A second trend is for marketers to centralize their data as they now look for a way to make sense of all the siloed streams of data they must work with. This second trend really reaches for tech like customer data platforms (CDP). CDPs, (specifically, AI-powered CDPs) allow marketers to optimize their campaigns in real-time, allocate resources more efficiently and maximize ROI with the centralization and simplification of their customer data. The AI-driven data insights are invaluable for marketers in creating targeted segments and understanding customer behavior, thereby improving the overall brand experience. Marketers are reaching for these to keep up with competition, as CDPs enable their users to send nudges, messages and more to the right shopper at exactly the right time.

Aditya, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started my corporate career with fulfilling stints at P&G and iGate (Europe). They not only gave me an opportunity to understand how enterprises at scale function, but also provided me with a lifelong appreciation for building and sustaining customer relationships.
In 2008, I decided to forge my own path as an entrepreneur and launched my first startup Emart Solutions. The company focused on Customer Loyalty and Customer Experience building as its core deliverables. Over the next seven years, our firm built an enviable customer base of over 150 clients and made its presence known both in India and overseas.
Yet, there was a huge gap between customer data and customer experience. For example, to understand the importance of hyper-personalization at scale, consider shopping at a store for a shaving kit. The general advertising tendency is to broadcast a generic message along the lines of “I’m a great product- BUY ME”. Imagine instead, the product having a personalized message for each customer as they walked by, “It’s your 25th Wedding Anniversary tomorrow- Show your better half you care with the best shave ever”. That would revolutionize how customers feel about what they choose to buy.
This was what we set out to do with FirstHive in 2019. We wanted to maximize customer delight and personalization at-scale by giving the marketers the data to communicate meaningfully across all channels. Now, the company has entered the U.S. market to become a key player in the CDP movement as our solution empowers marketers all over the world to own their data.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
First, our platform that solves real marketing problems we’ve set out to solve is what has helped grow our clientele. FirstHive offers the first full-stack CDP system on the market that is centralized and allows brands to own their data. We’re helping marketers deliver compelling customer experiences at a massive scale faster, and with more flexibility than other systems. We drive conversions, because we leave no point of the customer journey untouched.
Secondly, our product solves a worldwide conundrum for marketers. FirstHive was quickly able to scale during the global pandemic, when the value of data management, customer experience and digital engagement became clear. Our company saw the situation quickly, then built and executed a battle plan as the pandemic reinforced the value of data management and the role of digital engagement and customer experience in a rapidly adapting world of e-commerce.
Thirdly, I strongly believe that as the nation responsible for one-sixth of the world’s population, India should also spearhead more than its fair share of technology innovation. As we have grown, this is another part of our reputation that resonates with our clients.
