Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adino Belton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Adino , thanks for joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
Going From Idea to Execution
I spent a few years working for Hospitality and customer friendly companies. During my time being an employee, I further learned how to communicate, empathize and interact with a various amount of people, some from different cultures. I owe those years to crafting me in being able to carry that same customer friendly environment to the business I own today. I always wanted to become an entrepreneur but only had a vision with no plan on how to execute or what it might be that I go into ownership for. During my time working as a hospitality expert, I realized how lucrative the business of contacting could be. A numerous number of contractors would be in and out of the building doing different jobs, sometimes for months at a time. I took an interest to the floor and carpet contactors because of how appealing the work seemed and how the finished product would look one the work was complete. I spoke with and watched them as much as I could soaking up every detail even the smallest ones. That is when I realized I wanted to get into carpet and floor contracting. Once I became interested, I worked with local contactors part time to further advance my skills and knowledge of the trade I was going into. After a few years doing that, I was sold this was the direction for me, I spoke with some very close friends asking for advice and telling them my plans, still I didn’t execute. I went back to working my fulltime job and doing contacting on the side, not having confidence to make that jump fulltime into entrepreneurship even though that’s what I really wanted to do. At this point months go past, and I just can’t find satisfaction in getting up and clocking in for somebody else’s company. I finally make the decision that being a contractor was the next career for me. I took the necessary steps and did research on what type of equipment to purchase and everything else I might need. Once the research was done, I purchased all of the equipment, thought of a catchy yet professional business name, then filed for my LLC. More than two years of procrastinating ended, and I am now a licensed floor and carpet contractor.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My Name Is Adino Belton I’m 33 years old. I enjoy waking up every day starting my morning routine, working out and seeing what new challenges or experiences that I can learn from. One of the main rules Carpet Champs LLC is to deliver quality work, I’ve heard of carpet and flooring company’s not delivering quality work because sometimes they want to be called back for the job, For us that’s not an option. We realize that Carpet Champs LLC is all about customer satisfaction, and our top priority is to put a smile on the customer’s face.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My most effective strategy for growing clientele is to deliver quality services that your consumers will be proud of, but of course, one might ask how you get clients in the first place? Being in the carpet & flooring business I understand that this service is something that is highly sought after. Whether you’re buying a new home and want to change or clean the flooring, sometimes being in a home with pets can stain your carpet and you need a carpet company to come I’m to remove the stain, sometimes you just want to service carpet/floors because you just want to keep them fresh. There are many different reasons why carpet and flooring companies are needed, the difficult part at times is finding clientele. For me I spoke with and passed out business cards almost everywhere I went, I visited communities talking to local homeowners and renters, I used yard signs, posters, websites, social media and google. Almost anywhere promotion is available I’m making sure to get the name of my company out. Once Clients start reaching out and hiring your company for service make sure to offer quality service with a smile because they will not forget great service. Once your work gets noticed then that’s when word of mouth will become a factor and word will travel about how the clients feel about your work. Thats why for me my number most effective strategy of growing clients is to offer great service, once you offer great service after gaining a few clients more people will hear about your work. If they reach out and hire, you’re for a service, make sure the quality level is to the consumers satisfaction.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
During 2020 when covid first struck I believe which was a difficult time for everyone, my business hit a setback. Since I am in the carpet & flooring industry, I felt the side effects form the pandemic. Businesses had been shut down temporarily, homeowners and renters weren’t letting anyone come into their homes at that point. At the time it was appearing as if my business wouldn’t sustain during that time, I realized I needed to offer something that could be useful for the times, Thats when I added sanitizing as a service. Some businesses were still operating but were worried about germs, so I was able to offer a service to keep them open without having to close threw the pandemic. Being able to adjust and think quick allowed me to survive and sustain during the pandemic, in business no two days are the same and we have to be able to pivot and counter when necessary.
