Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adina Diaz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Adina , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
There has been quite a few defining moments in my career, but the ones that truly changed me and my path, were the ones that hurt the most. In the moments of success and recognition, you can forget that in a blink of an eye, it can all change.
That is exactly what I learned from the pandemic.
Through the pain of losing my brick and mortar of 5 years and loss of huge opportunities scheduled prior to the pandemic, I was pushed to think outside of the box and pivot.
Learning all over again how to build from the bottom up and survive.
I was forced to sit with what I truly wanted to share with the world and who I really wanted to be. Understanding my life’s purpose on a deeper level.
The overall experience completely changed the narrative.
Failures are truly some of the most defining moments of our lives exposing the rawest parts of us, pushing us in places that we didn’t know that even existed.
Through the moments of feeling lost and confused, I prayed and meditated a lot.
And that, is how Guided Flame Co was born. I would write down my daily, weekly mantras and share with love ones. The feedback was so powerful I realized it was something that I could share with the masses.
Putting the mantras down on paper was just part of the ritual, the candle and anointing oils were a huge add-on bonus and brought the brand altogether.
Resilience in the presence of loss highlighted true what true passion and creativity looked like for me.
Putting into perspective that “failure” wasn’t truly that, but a lesson, a chapter in the book and a growing moment for being an entrepreneur and small business owner.
Adina , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have over 18 years of experience with skincare, wellness, popups and event planning under my belt. Working alongside and with some of the most elite and sought-after clientele and providers in the industry. For the past 10 years I have been working independently running my spa, ecommerce platform and candle company. Throughout the years I have studied with masters in Reiki, Sound Therapy, Gua Sha, body and facial cupping, dermablading, microcurrent, herbology and chakra cleansing.
Enhancing all along the way my personal growth and my clientele’s experiences.
I offer holistic skincare treatments, vibrational therapy, sound baths, candles, mentoring, trainings, events and popups all over the nation. My main popup spots are Tucson, Los Angeles and Atlanta.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Training is such a crucial part of growth, expansion but finding a mentor (s) is key for success.
I have multiple mentors in my life. One for business, one for day to day matters and one for my spiritual development.
It has been so vital to have theses individuals in my life and help suggest and guide me in big life decisions. Never pushing me to make a choice but just guiding without judgment.
I let so many people in at an early stage who didn’t understand the depth of owning or running a business and couldn’t guide me properly.
I also received advice from people who were scared to do what I was doing and discouraged me from pushing forward with my ideas.
And lastly, I unfortunately shared ideas with individuals who had the means to start what I was working on and stole my ideas or concepts.
Having a trustworthy mentor in your life is vital for a competitive world, especially entrepreneurship.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
From the jump, I have always stay 100% true to myself and who I am. I haven’t changed the core of what I believe and the integrity behind it all.
I have been in the green, holistic and wellness space for over 18 years and have been a trailblazer in bringing eco-friendly and sustainable ideologies to the skincare space for years. I was one of the first eco-friendly spas in LA.
