Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adia Maenpaa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Adia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
I started to earn money from my business last year. I collaborated with a famous country artist from Nashville after they contacted me. They hired me to use their song in one of my YouTube Shorts so I made a dance to their song. I’ve also earned from Super Thanks on YouTube where people can donate to your YouTube videos. Just a few months ago I was able to monetize my YouTube channel by getting 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days. Once you hit that milestone you start to earn from ads in your videos and shorts.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Adia, and I’m a YouTuber with around 45k subscribers on my YouTube channel adia_ava. I make dance videos and funny skits most of the time, but I also like to do all kinds of acting Shorts on YouTube.
I post travel and modeling pictures on my Instagram, and more videos on TikTok.
I’m also a model at Entourage Model and Talent Agency. My style is classy and modest.
I’m Finnish, and I moved from Finland to Austin, Texas over a year ago.
I speak 4 languages (English, Finnish, Spanish and Swedish).
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience on social media by posting lots of dance videos, skits, challenges etc. My biggest advice for someone who’s starting to build a presence on social media is posting consistently good quality videos. I feel like if you stop posting for a while, your videos aren’t going to get as many views as they normally do. The best way to get more views and subscribers is by using trending songs or coming up with your own video ideas. If you’re starting to post on YouTube, I recommend you first start by posting YouTube Shorts before you post long videos because it’s easier to get more views and that’s how most people will find your channel and want to subscribe.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a YouTuber is getting so many nice comments from your subscribers and knowing that they’re always looking forward to watching your videos. I’ve also got recognised sometimes, for example once I filmed a dance video in front of my house and then one of my neighbours saw it and commented that they just realised I’m their neighbour because they saw the same exact house and Christmas decorations when they went biking on the same day. Also sometimes when I comment on somebody’s YouTube Short there are people who recognise me, and tell me in the comments :”Omg Hi Adia! I love your videos!”
