We were lucky to catch up with Adelina Graham recently and have shared our conversation below.
Adelina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I hope my legacy will be one of compassion, integrity, and service—both as a mother and as a legal professional. As a mother, I strive every day to raise my children to be kind, thoughtful, and engaged members of society. I want them to know that success isn’t just about personal achievement, but about how we uplift those around us. My hope is that they will carry forward these values, using their unique talents to contribute to the greater good in their own meaningful ways.
As a lawyer, I aim to be remembered as someone who made the complexities of the law feel less overwhelming and more accessible. Whether it’s helping entrepreneurs protect their brand through trademarks, guiding families through the purchase or sale of real estate, or supporting small business owners as they navigate growth and compliance, I strive to provide clarity, compassion, and steady guidance. I want my clients to know they have an advocate who sees their goals as her own and works tirelessly to protect their interests.
Ultimately, I hope my legacy reflects the belief that our greatest impact comes not just from what we achieve, but from how we show up for others. Whether it’s my children, my clients, or my community, I hope I leave behind a legacy of patience, empathy, and thoughtful action.

Adelina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I came to America in 1988 at the age of five with my family, who arrived as religious refugees seeking a better future. My parents came here with nothing but hope and determination, and through their hard work, they showed me and my siblings that the American Dream was possible. Their perseverance instilled in me a deep appreciation for opportunity and the value of building something meaningful from the ground up.
During my school years and into college, I didn’t have a clear vision of what I wanted to be when I grew up. I always knew I wanted to help people, but I wasn’t sure in what capacity. It wasn’t until I had the chance to travel during college and took a year off after graduation to reflect that I realized becoming a lawyer would give me the chance to help people in a tangible and far-reaching way. With renewed purpose, I pursued a legal career, and after finishing law school and passing the bar, I spent five years at a Manhattan-based firm. There, I gained valuable experience across a range of practice areas, including real estate transactions, business formations, and estate planning.
Taking a leap I hadn’t originally anticipated, I established my own solo practice. This decision was driven by a deep commitment to offering accessible, compassionate, and effective legal guidance to my community. Juggling the demands of building a practice while raising three children was no small feat, but it taught me invaluable lessons in time management, perseverance, and adaptability. My areas of practice now include corporate counsel for small businesses, real estate transactions, business formation, intellectual property registration, and estate planning. I’m driven by the belief that the law should be a tool for empowerment, not intimidation.
My approach to legal practice is rooted in empathy and practicality. I understand that legal issues can feel overwhelming, so I strive to demystify complex processes. My goal is to ensure my clients feel informed, supported, and confident every step of the way. Whether I’m guiding a business owner through compliance issues, helping an entrepreneur protect their intellectual property, or helping a family purchase their first home, I take the time to understand my clients’ unique goals and craft personalized solutions that work for them.
What sets me apart is my holistic approach to legal service. My clients aren’t just case files—they’re people with stories, challenges, and dreams. I’m proud to be a trusted resource during some of life’s most pivotal moments. My experience as a mother has also shaped my practice. Parenthood has taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of thoughtful preparation—all qualities that I bring into my work every day. I’m honored that my clients trust me to play a role in their journeys and to be a source of clarity and support when they need it most.
If there’s one message I’d like to leave with potential clients, followers, and community members, it’s this: I’m here to listen, to guide, and to advocate for you. I’m passionate about providing practical, human-centered legal solutions that make a real difference. Whether you’re starting a business, protecting your intellectual property, or planning your family’s future, you’ll have a dedicated partner by your side every step of the way.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I first embarked on my legal career, the idea of going out on my own never crossed my mind. But life has a way of steering us in unexpected directions. About five years into my practice, I was working for a firm while also preparing to start a family. Balancing both aspirations seemed reasonable to me, but unfortunately, my firm did not share that perspective. Our professional relationship came to an abrupt end, and I found myself at a crossroads.
At first, the sudden shift was jarring. Uncertainty loomed large, and I questioned what my next step would be. But in hindsight, it turned out to be a pivotal moment in my life. The experience gave me the opportunity to be the present and engaged mother I aspired to be. More importantly, it revealed a strength I hadn’t fully realized within myself. I discovered that I had the capability, courage, and resolve to build something of my own.
That’s when I decided to open my own practice. It wasn’t just about having control over my career—it was about practicing law on my own terms. Looking back, what initially felt like a setback became one of the most empowering moments of my career. It taught me that sometimes, life’s curveballs aren’t there to knock you down—they’re there to help you find your own path forward.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Juggling multiple roles has been a defining part of my journey. As a mother, a solo practitioner, and my husband’s business partner in all of his ventures, I wore many hats — often all at once. Our business ventures were not always successful, and the growing pains were real. There were countless moments when walking away felt like the easier option. But we never did. Our children and our shared vision for the future served as our compass, grounding us and driving us forward. That unwavering focus on our “why” is what kept us resilient through every challenge we faced.
