We recently connected with Adedap0 Balogun and have shared our conversation below.
Adedap0, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s start with a hypothetical – what would you change about the educational system?
Personally, I would change how the education system teaches young people to have a worker mindset and limits what they
can do with their lives. Going through the education system does not prepare you for real life or equip you with skills nessasary to tackle life properly. In facts the education systems tell you that if you to to school and graduate college them life will work ou for you but that is not the case especially today where the job market is terrible. In stead of grooming one dimentional minded children we should teach children to be confident in themselsves, develop skills they can use to support themselves and also important things they need to know about being an adult like credit and money management.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Adedapo Adeolu Balogun and I am a portrait and wedding photographer. I started taking pictures at my church during special Sunday and outreach events, and then I found a passion for photography and didn’t look back. I shoot portraits for a wide variety of purposes like grad sessions, album covers, engagement sessions, etc, but as far as weddings I mainly capture Nigerian weddings because being of Nigerian descent I understand the culture and know how to handle certain tricky situations, In addition to that I understand the importance of certain traditional things that need to be captured which a person unfamiliar with the culture might not think to capture. I am very proud of capturing weddings, I actually love it. I shot my first wedding early last year and since then, I have shot 10 more and I have some more coming up this year I get to learn a lot about life and love while shooting weddings and I want potential clients to know that I am a hardworker and a problem solver, there is no task i cant handle and I’ll have you looking amazing.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I understood that as much as photography is an art form, if you want to make a living from your art then it becomes a business so you must treat it as such. That being said websites like pixieset which photographers use to create beautiful photo galleries to send out to clients and Honeybook which helps you organize your business, send out invoices, and help with the automatization of your business are game changers!!
These websites help you look more presentable and professional for those high-quality clients we all want, it might cost some money to use these websites but as business owners investing in our businesses, we treat them like our children.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is seeing peoples reactions to my work. It a very fuliilling feeling when a couple is in love with the photos from their wedding day, pictures live on forever and the memories and emotions live with them, just like grad sessions or birthday party coverage they are all landmark moments in a persons life and I think being the one to capture that such a beautiful job to have.
