We recently connected with Adebimpe Adelugba and have shared our conversation below.
Adebimpe , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Growing up fashion, and beauty has always been in my radar. I loved everything beauty. At age 10 I would tell my parents, how I would have a big beauty parlor. I guess entrepreneurs has always been a thing for me. I remember how I would tell my parents 9-5 life isn’t built for me.
I would literally play dressup in my mom’s clothes and her heels. So the passion continued to grow and my love for beauty and fashion was just unmatched.
How Lizhan started, like I said beauty has always been part of my life, and I wanted an all inclusive for women of color. I remember I always struggle to find my perfect match of foundation. I made my research and that was how I started. I remember having conversations with my sister, brainstorming names for my brand and boom she came up with the perfect name Lizhan which was derived from my daughters name Elizabeth and Hannah.
The journey hasn’t been easy, but the goal is to provide women of color inclusivity as well as quality. I know their are a lot of brands out there. But what makes Lizhan different is that’s she is a one stop shop that specializes in color cosmetics, luxury weaves and wigs as well as skincare.
My biggest challenge have been getting the awareness for my small business. However, I am optimistic about the greatness that awaits LIZHAN. Again Rome wasn’t built in one day, so better days awaits LIZHAN.

Adebimpe , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Awww My name is Adebimpe Adelugba, I am an entrepreneur. Like I said previously passion and inclusivity birth Lizhan. My passion has always been to beautify women. And I have been very particular about women of color. The inclusivity for women of color especially black women has always been my goal. Lizhan is a one stop shop for women. An online store that specializes in skincare, color cosmetics and hair extensions where you shop all things beauty. And I think that set us apart from other brands,

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As a business owner I think loss is in evitable, when I started created Lizhanbeauty, I wanted my brand to be accessible to every woman. So I extent Lizhanbeauty to another country (Nigeria). I opened a beauty parlor and got someone to manage the brand their. I live in United state so it was very did to manage a business outside the country and Covid 19 hit. I couldn’t travel outside the country it was really difficult for me to manage my brand there and people wanted to see the Face of the brand. So having to manage a brand outside the country will be my biggest challenge and loss. However, I have been very optimistic about my brand so that has helped me managed the situation.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
As a small brand, it very difficult to build a brand. But I have been able to utilize beauty influencers on Instagram, as well as marketing strategists to help create awareness. That that has helped push sales. Again Lizhan isn’t where she ought to be but she’s getting there.
