We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Adasia Deshire a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Adasia , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Back in 2018 while I was in college I came across a permanent makeup class that immediately caught my attention. The moment I saw it I felt drawn to it. Being a broke college student at the time, the price of $2500 to $4500 made it feel completely out of reach. I didn’t have an investing mindset yet, so I just admired it from a distance and went back to what I knew best, teaching myself everything I could about beauty.
In 2019 I became a hairstylist and makeup artist. My business grew quickly and I was proud of what I was building. But even in that success, I didn’t feel fulfilled. I loved the beauty industry but deep down I knew I hadn’t found my true passion.
In 2021 I saw someone offering that same permanent makeup class again, this time for $700. I thought about it every single day but didn’t feel any urgency to act. Then one night I woke up at 4 a.m. with the class heavy on my mind. It felt like God was speaking to me, telling me that this was my moment. I grabbed my phone, signed up, and finally went back to sleep with a sense of peace.
When I arrived in Atlanta for the class, I met a random girl from Chicago who asked if I was buying any materials that day. I told her honestly that I couldn’t, because I had spent my last just to get into the class. Without hesitation, she bought the $500 brow pen for me. That moment changed everything. It reminded me that when you move with faith and purpose, God always provides.
Now, six years later, I am living a dream I once thought was impossible. I have worked with over 200 clients, built great reviews on Google, and created a business that allows me to travel and do what I love. Permanent makeup became my main source of income and one of the best decisions I have ever made.
This business was built on faith, sacrifice, and passion. Every client I meet reminds me why I never gave up on the vision God placed in my heart back in 2018.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Adasia, and I am a permanent makeup artist based in Philadelphia, specializing in creating soft, natural, and long-lasting brows that enhance each client’s unique features. I focus on helping women wake up confident and feel beautiful without needing to draw on their brows or spend hours in the mirror. My goal is to create brows that look effortless, balanced, and timeless the kind of beauty that lasts.
I offer services such as microshading and brow touch-ups, catering to women who want to save time while maintaining a polished and natural appearance. Beyond the artistry, I’ve built my brand around professionalism, comfort, and genuine care. Every client who sits in my chair receives more than a service they receive an experience designed to make them feel seen, valued, and beautiful inside and out.
I am most proud of my ability to keep going even during the times when my business was not bringing in money. In the beginning when no one knew who I was and the journey felt heavy, I still chose to keep my faith strong. There were many moments when I wanted to quit because it is much easier to work a regular job than to face the constant challenges that come with being an entrepreneur.
Through it all, God has been my ultimate strength and provider. I have not worked a traditional job in two years, and even during slow seasons, my needs have always been met. By the grace of God, I continue to eat, live comfortably, and take care of my responsibilities.
What I want people to know most about me is that I have a genuine heart and that everything I do comes from a place of purpose. I am in this business to fulfill both my purpose and God’s purpose for my life. The money is a blessing, but everything I have, own, and receive is because of Him. I simply take credit for being the vessel that carries out His work.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
While living in downtown Atlanta, I watched a new luxury apartment building being constructed right across the street. Within less than a year, the lights were on, people were moving in, and it was completely occupied. I couldn’t help but think to myself, how is it that this building can fill up so fast, yet I’ve been a certified brow artist for three years and still struggle to get even one client a week?
That moment sparked something in me. I started researching what big businesses like apartment complexes do to attract customers so quickly, and the answer was clear — marketing teams. From August to December, I sat through about twenty Zoom calls with different marketing companies, trying to learn and find the right fit.
On December 3rd, I finally chose the company I wanted to work with. At the time, I was still working as a waitress, and their plan allowed me to pay $394 a month for their services. I had no idea what to expect, but I took the leap anyway. By mid-January, my phone started blowing up with messages and calls for appointments. That was the beginning of one of the best investments I ever made.
By March, I had my first $7,000 month. Within six months, I had made around $30,000. It felt like I was living in a dream, completely amazed at how far faith and action had taken me.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A major lesson I had to unlearn is that everyone cannot go where you are going. When I look back at who I was during that time in my life, I see that some of the people I was connected to were not meant to grow with me. I was in an unhealthy relationship that was on and off, and I started to notice a pattern. My business would flourish and I would feel peace when he was not around, but as soon as he came back into my life, it was like God would pause my blessings.
That experience showed me that God will not allow you to reach your next level while you are still holding on to people He already told you to release. You will always know when it is God because the peace that follows obedience is undeniable.
Self development has been one of my greatest strengths as an entrepreneur. When you change your mindset, you begin to attract better. And when you attract better, you naturally thrive with the right people around you.
