We recently connected with Adanna Asson and have shared our conversation below.
Adanna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I think about this all the time and I strongly believe that I am actively creating the life that will contribute to my legacy. I hope to create a legacy that will remind others to be honorable, sincere and authentic not only to others but to themselves.

Adanna, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
At a tender age, although I cannot pinpoint that age definitively, I became fascinated with storytelling. It would make sense that I would be considered a chatterbox by family and friends. My genuine interest in people and desire to assist with telling their stories led me to the field of Public Relations. I am pretty much unconventional or “out of the box as many would agree and I am a combination of serious, quirky and unconventional.
Through my boutique Public Relations agency, Creativa Media Public Relations, I have provided and continue to provide support to a number of personalities in the entertainment industry in the Caribbean diaspora. For quite a number of years, I worked quietly behind the scenes creating strategies, coaching, establishing relationships and executing plans, successfully. As I look back a bit on my journey, I am really elated to say that I have grown immensely in my profession. Presently I am heavily focused on my penetrating new markets which will aid my goal of bridging the gap between my clients and audiences globally.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I am extremely honest, and I lead my business with honesty. As a child, my mother always told me, “Your reputation is easily lost than regained”, and I have held on to that. I take what I do very seriously, and this attitude has encouraged others to take me seriously. As a professional, people have been able to identify the growth of my clients and how my contributions have assisted them in reaching notable milestones, etc. What I do is not a “hustle” but my passion; curating and sharing my clients’ stories is meaningful work and assisting my clients with connecting with their audiences and target market is also meaningful work.
I will also say that my willingness to learn, grow and adapt have contributed to building my reputation in my market.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I started off in the entertainment industry as a Publicist without a clear understanding of everything that was required of a practitioner. A dear friend named Natasha Andrews, who had extensive business knowledge then and still does, gave me the first opportunity to find my space and voice. Back then, she had her own production label called Ma$tamind Productions and she enlisted me to work with her on the projects they were releasing. I began networking on behalf of the company, curating stories, creating strategies, and writing and issuing press releases for the company’s projects.
The opportunity that she gave me began opening doors for me as a publicist and communicator in the entertainment space in Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean by extension and I began building my clientele, network and body of work. Soon after, I decided to head back to school and pursued an Associate Degree in Journalism and Public Relations, which provided me with additional knowledge for my practice. Eventually, I created my own boutique Public Relations agency, Creativa Media and have been practicing for over 12 years. Over the last 6 years, I have been practicing full-time and have provided support for a number of creatives in the entertainment industry in Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean by extension.
I have acquired my Bachelor’s in Media and Communication and a host of professional certifications in Reputation Management, Digital Marketing and Digital Public Relations, among others. I also recently became a professional member of the Recording Academy and other professional organizations like Forbes Blk.
My expertise has also grown into Management, outside of Creativa Media I also act in a management capacity, either as lead or co-lead for some performers from Trinidad and Tobago. I’ve also consulted on management related issues and will continue to provide consultation in that area. It is a male dominated industry but navigating the space thus far has been pretty interesting and teaching.
