We were lucky to catch up with Adan Avila recently and have shared our conversation below.
Adan, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you manage your own social media?
I manage my own social media because I truly am one of those people that believes that if you want something done right the first time, do it yourself. Especially for my brand, which is so personal to me. Even the foundation like the name, Ad’Ann is a combination of my mother’s middle name Ann and my name Adan. I am a very visual aesthetic oriented creative, I know the brand I want to portray and how I want it to be seen. The quality and luxury that come with custom clothing to the personal interaction of fittings and fabric sampling and displaying it in a single photo or a reel to the recent trends to doing the work and stringing ideas together with a visual aid. It’s honestly a little overwhelming especially with my degree and specialty being fashion design and construction to learning marketing by trial and error and evolving with the times and technology. I am happy I made the choice I made because I’ve learned and strengthen my own creative eye with a different creative outlet, to even taking my own photos of my editorials to post. It is an every enlightening process!!!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I graduated Houston Community College with a fashion design degree May 2020. Since then I have been on a journey of not only establishing my brand but learning and strengthening my creative skills. I have gained experience in fashion show and editorial production to leading a creative team. I have a Shein Collection which in my recent collection “Fractal Bloom”, I’ve up-cycled my Shein X AdAnn pieces into my own designer creations. I am currently working in a department store as a brand ambassador for a luxury brand because I was intrigued to see fashion from the retail perspective compared to my experience in the independent brand realm. I’ve learned how the fashions are merchandised and the reason the floors are updated and why, to learning the business and down to the percentages of increase or decrease and the thought process of how a certain action plan may improve and the projection of the project. I want to learn all my experience to help designers and boutiques put on upscale luxury production for fashion shows and photoshoots to helping industry professionals establish their own brand with my level of quality and luxury. As for my own brand Ad’Ann Designs, I craft luxury one-of-a-kind custom garments with skill and creativity to accentuate my client’s unique figure. The problem I solve is the restrictive options at department store and boutiques, I offer a customized luxury experience. With most of my client being new referrals, seeing their eyes open to the possibilities is actually super cool. One of my recent clients, needed a gown for a Gala and when we went fabric shopping and she picked a fabric color that was so out of the range she wanted to stay me that I literally looked at her and said “ ohh I didn’t know we were being extra!!!”, she responded “ I didn’t know I could.” To be able to give someone that spark of imagination and what could be possible was amazing. That is the core of what I do, I want to inspire others to create but create with passion which will encourage you do your best!!!
Book your consultation and Let’s see how I may help you accomplish your luxurious fashion dream, whatever it may be!
Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
I studied and specialized in fashion design and construction. I am inspired and aspire to have a haute couture luxury brand, for that reason I put my passion into my craft. I completed courses like couture dressmaking, evening wear and advanced draping to improve my skills to the best of my ability. I truly have passion for fashion, even though the process of creating a custom garment is so extensive and hands on, I still look forward to the final product and seeing it fit and seeing how the client feels is a truly fulfilling situation. Every single one of my designs start with a consultation, where I ask for a mood-board or inspiration photos and I ask questions more catered to find out what occasion the garment is for and how is she expecting to look and the allure she wants. I ask for photos not only to make the best silhouette choice based on the client’s unique figure but also to help with color options best paired with skin tone. After the consultation, I go on a fabric shopping trip with my client because the way a fabric look to how it feels even to how it lays is taken into account to consider options based on what client has informed me she wants from the garment. Depending on the complexity of the design on average I have 3 fittings with my client’s, the first is a sample of the base like bustier and undergarments. All of my garments has internal structure, I mean who doesn’t love to be supported. Am I right? The second fitting is a sample of the internal structure and the fashion fabric layer (which is the outter most fabric) but it is more to get the fit the most accurate to what is desired. Depending on how close to the desired fit, I may or may not have to make another sample for fit purposes. If not, I start by creating the internal structure because the fit for that this layer is crucial being the foundation and all. Then little by little based on the process I used to construct the sample I construct the different layers for the fashion fabric and lining. I completely finish and close the garment at the final meeting with the client, I leave a small opening in the lining to easily adjust any final details. The final product is completed with the upmost craftsmanship with a luxury level of quality control we wish to deliver and make you feel your best.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe the level of quality and luxury I bring into everything I do is what sets me apart. From the first time fashion entered my life was through a hispanic award show called Premio lo Nuestro. The way the celebrities graced the red carpet with their confidence and presence, that feeling inspired me. I want to deliver that feeling into everything I do. From the photoshoots and fashion shows I have and will produce to how I represent myself and my brand. I elevate everything I do with my quality of work standards and unique creative eye.
