We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Adamariz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Adamariz below.
Alright, Adamariz thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
Definitely happier! I’ve noticed a trend that when I am not working on music I become easily irritated and tend to feel sad. During the pandemic, I was working full time, in college, and somehow managing to drop music pretty frequently. Eventually it caught up to me and I became extremely depressed and my soul was tired. I realized while working a 9-5 or 6ish sometimes, I hated it. I felt empty. I thought to myself, “I can’t work like this for the rest of my life”. Now, I know some people are built to work office jobs, but not me. I NEED to be somewhere we’re I can be creative. Not just because it’s something I enjoy, but for my own mental well-being. Eventually, I stopped working there and since then I have grown as an artist. Not just in stats, but creatively. I’ve tried new styles and collaborated with artists I never thought I would.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
In 2014, I would pick up a pencil and write my first song. I continued writing and sharing my songs with close friends for various years until one friend finally convinced me to release a song. At first it began as just a cappella raps on YouTube. In 2016, I began releasing demos on SoundCloud. As time passed, Adamaris became Longliveadamariz and I built an extensive discography including my first official single “I vs. Y’all” released in November of 2017. I then released 5 albums, 5 EP’s, and over 20 singles on streaming platforms and over 100 remixes and freestyles on my YouTube channel as longliveadamariz. In my last EP “FINDING MYSELF”, I announced my separation from longliveadamariz. I acknowledged the many successes I had as longliveadamariz such as over 90 thousand streams on Oceans Remix and over 65 thousand streams on LONGLIVEADAMARIZ: THE SEQUEL . My fans accepted this last EP with open ears as it reached over 30 thousand streams in less than a month. My first single as “adamariz” Savage – Extended was released on January 31, 2022. My follow up single, My Fault (I’m Sorry) ft 350 surpassed over 20,000 streams after being out for only a month. On March 23 I dropped yet another single, HWY 90 ft. JAH3IM. I plan to continue to release a song a month throughout the year as well as some collaborations that have been teased. In addition, I hope to continue to inspire others and bring too light the many challenges the youth face in this day and age. My next single is set to release on April 13, featuring A3. I am also in college to get a degree in Audio Engineering. I also have a feature sale and merchandise available to support my music career.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Back in June of last year, I lost my job. It was a devastating blow as I had just dropped my album “LONGLIVEADAMARIZ: THE SEQUEL” and I has invested quite a bit of money to making and marketing it. In addition, in April I had been in a hit and run that left be a bit frazzled. Throughout this I felt discouraged and even now, I still feel bits and pieces of how losing my job has impacted me. Somehow, I pushed on. I continued and attempted to post daily on TikTok, a song a month, stay active on social media, and somehow still have a social life outside of being a creative. It was a lot. In all of this, I was also looking for a job. I couldn’t get one at all and became frustrated because I wanted funding for my music so I could purchase features, music videos, beats, and mixing and mastering. I frequently thought of quitting. I thankfully had a great support team around me encouraging me to keep my head up and create with what I had. Despite feeling discouraged and wanting to quit, I’ve created a lot of what I consider my best work. Looking back at my past work and work ethic, I truly feel like grown as an artist and I still haven’t even reached my peak.
: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My main mission is to share the gospel. My underlying mission is sharing that Christian’s also struggle with mental health. Songs like “Oceans Remix” and “My Fault (I’m Sorry)” really show that Christian struggle. We’re not perfect and we have our battles. A lot of times people think Christians are perfect or conceded, I want to change people’s perception of Christians. In reality we’re just like regular humans, we just strive to have a strong relationship with God. We fail, but we remember where our strength comes from and get back up. My own personal goal is to inspire the youth and encourage them and remind them, they’re not alone!
