We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Adam Yarger a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Adam, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Everyone in the band had a love for music as kids and after high school, the three of us all pursued different career paths in music with Adam moving to Nashville and learning the ropes of town, Brandon went to Lee University in Tennessee for Music for two semesters before dropping out and touring with multiple Rock bands. Alex also attended college but returned home to begin his musical career in State College, PA.

Adam, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Adam & the Armadillos are a dynamic honky tonk band hailing from Central Pennsylvania. Adam Yarger on vocals and guitar is joined by Brandon Deamer on drums and Alex Sterbenz on bass and lead guitar. Together, the Armadillos create a captivating sound that pays homage to classic country and outlaw music.
With their genuine passion for the genre, Adam & the Armadillos are on a roll generating momentum for the band in all aspects. In 2023, they achieved remarkable milestones that solidified their place in the genre, notably signing with Hollow Point Music Group in August 2023, as well as being nominated for “Best Country Band” at the Central Pennsylvania Music Awards. The band dedicated their time and energy into recording, producing and releasing three exceptional singles. These tracks not only showcased their honky tonk traditional country style- but also reflected their dedication to creating authentic and memorable country music.
With shows being scheduled all over the country, the band’s monthly sponsorship with Miller Lite and Nittany Beverage make it possible to travel back and forth hassle free.
Adam & the Armadillos released their long-awaited debut EP, Another Round, on all streaming platforms on April 19th. The project features 6 songs, including She’s Already Gone, which landed on two Apple Music curated playlists, New in Country and Don’t Mess with Texas.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
There’s a lot of times that people will interpret from social media posts that ”tour life” is this glamorous, traveling lifestyle, when in reality there’s so much planning that goes into a self funded tour.
From reaching out to hundreds of venues hoping you can line up dates, to making sure you’re not over traveling and wearing your bodies down. Then once on the road, finding safe places to stay, having to work around having a truck and trailer full of gear, covering meals and what to eat, a lot goes into making a quick 3 day run of shows work.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
All three of us really love being able to travel and connect with fans and grow our fan base through the music that we play. To be able to hear fans singing songs at the top of their lungs back to us always feels like such a special connection whether it be a cover song or an original of our own.
