We recently connected with Adam Rivas and have shared our conversation below.
Adam, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you share an important lesson you learned in a prior job that’s helped you in your career afterwards?
I was working for a bank at the time doing my best and giving it my all but it wasn’t emotionally fulfilling. It was quite draining to be honest. I didn’t feel like I was really making an impact and was constantly thinking how miserable I was there. Comfort got the best of me though and I kept asking the universe to give me better opportunities. Well ask and you shall receive. I was let go during the Pandemic and after almost 4 years with the company I saw how little they cared about their own employees. It really challenged me to pursue what I love and to finally put joy into what I do. I know now that if I get to comfortable it’s time to change it up a little and make waves otherwise I’ll be stuck in the same situation. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable and pursue your dreams.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Adam and I am the owner of Divine Creations. I am a Queer Latinx and I am a sound and meditation Guide, Energy practitioner & an intuitive reader. I’m a mentor for those looking to expand their intuition and a coach to those who want to live their lives authentically and expressively.
Divine Creations 1st started as an outlet for my creativity back in 2016 where I created wreaths, jewelry, art and then began my journey of candle making. As I did my research I found out that’ a lot of candles are actually quite bad for your health. I wanted to create candles with out the toxic fumes. I now love working with flowers, herbs and perfumes. I use ethically sourced, natural & sustainable ingredients to create intentionally fused products. I started getting into Sound Healing a few years after seeing how therapeutic it was for me.
The business has since evolved into me connecting others to their inner Creativity and Divinity. This has allowed me to bring ideas to life while building a relationship with the Divine and seeing the sacred in the mundane.
My services include tarot & divination readings to help people understand themselves better. I offer sound as a meditative practice to allow others to go within and find peace & relaxation. I am also a coach that encourages others to live their lives as authentically and expressively as they can so they may enjoy life now. I also facilitate events so people can come together in community and build relational connections.
As a Queer man in this industry I think what sets me apart is that I have learned to work with not just the masculine and feminine energies but the in between spaces as well. I have been cultivating and holding space for the non binary and lgbtq+ communities to facilitate healing and connection outside of the bar scene.
Currently proud of my continuous development. I am presently studying for my yoga teacher training to add onto my sound practice. In the coming months I will be able to have a combo of yoga and sound sessions for people to connect with.
I think what I want people to know the most about me is that I’m here to provide hope and encouragement. I want to inspire you not just with my story but with our communities stories . Who said healing has to be a lonely journey. You’re not alone. I hope that you find your own light and share it with the world.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I showed up in my community Spaces. I catered to where I found people of shared similarities and interests. Not only marketing myself but going out to support fellow business owners in their crafts. I think it really fosters a relational bond where we continuously help and support each other.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Networking, meeting people that will bring more opportunities your way, and vice versa. You can also learn and grow from each other. I’ve had so many learning moments Simply asking others questions regarding their business, the process, what works best for them, what isn’t and so forth.
