The final push I needed to embark on this journey was the passing of my best friend, Louis Karastamatis. Losing Louis to mental illness was a heartbreaking experience that shook me to my core. Louis was more than a friend; he was a guiding light, a confidant, and a brother in every sense that mattered. His struggle and ultimate loss left a void that words cannot capture. In the wake of his passing, I made a solemn promise to myself: if I could help even one person in my lifetime, I would consider my life well-lived.

That promise took form through REIDframed Studios. I envisioned a platform that could reach out, touch hearts, and inspire minds. But vision alone wasn’t enough. Enter Elio Castello, my partner and the catalyst for our venture. Had it not been for Elio, REIDframed Studios might have remained just an idea, a what-if. Elio and I had just built a platform for another company, and we knew we had the skills and the passion to do something even bigger for ourselves.

One day, as we sat in the parking lot of a coffee shop, Elio turned to me with a look of determination and said, “Why not us? Why not now?” It was in that moment, amidst the hum of everyday life, that REIDframed Studios was truly born. Elio’s push was the spark that ignited our journey, transforming a promise into action.

From that point on, our mission was clear: to motivate and inspire people around the world. We wanted to create content that wasn’t just entertaining but transformative. We aimed to produce 16 short films a month, each one carrying the message that change is possible and that it starts with you. Our first milestone was celebrated with immense joy – 1 billion minutes viewed in just 16 months.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

Think about it: if we’re constantly afraid of failing, we’re less likely to take risks. And without risk, there’s no reward. Imagine if Thomas Edison gave up after his first few attempts at creating the light bulb. Innovation thrives on trial and error. Failure isn’t the opposite of success; it’s a stepping stone to it. When we embrace failure as a learning experience, we open ourselves up to creativity and breakthroughs that we never would have encountered otherwise.

2. **Perfectionism Paralyzes Progress**
The quest for perfection can be paralyzing. When we believe that anything less than perfect is unacceptable, we often don’t even start. This is particularly detrimental in fields that require iteration and improvement, like animation, filmmaking, or any creative endeavor. Perfectionism can lead to procrastination because the fear of producing something imperfect is overwhelming. By unlearning this lesson, we allow ourselves to produce, to learn, and to improve continually.

3. **Fixed Mindset Limits Potential**
A fixed mindset, which is often linked to a fear of failure, tells us that our abilities are static and unchangeable. This couldn’t be further from the truth. By believing that our skills and intelligence are fixed, we limit our potential for growth.
