We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Adam Mock, LCS a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Adam, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
How often have you been told that your life is all about the “pursuit” of happiness and that you should “Chase your dreams!”?
Think about what this is saying; the thing you want more than anything else, is running from you.
So good luck catching it! And if you do, you better hang onto it with everything you have because it could run again. And your whole life will be spent chasing something that wants to elude you.
That sounds so incredibly exhausting.
No wonder so many people are unhappy and not living the lives they want. Not being a true reflection of who they are. And never living up to their full potential. They feel like they can’t keep up, so why even try?
My mission as a Leadership Coaching Specialist and Transformational Partner is to help you Rescue Your Dreams™, not chase them.
Because I don’t believe your dreams are running from you. I believe they’re closer than you realize. But they’re suffocating under the weight of how we compare ourselves to other people (especially on the socials), and they’re buried under the tremendous amount of expectations put on us by our family, friends, and the world.
I’m on a quest to help teams and individuals raise their self-awareness. And to know more about themselves than anyone else, so that they can lead and live at full choice. Knowing who they are, where they’re going, and why they’re going there.
Because with those things uncovered, you’ll never be directionless again.

Adam, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into the development coaching field after meeting my friend and mentor Doug McKinley Psy. D. MCC. He had created a youth mentoring program named “My Story” through the organization Triple Threat, and I was one of the mentors chosen to participate in it.
My Story was designed to raise the self-awareness of the young men in attendance, and I was captivated by the tools and insights Dr. McKinley was bringing to their attention. During the program, I kept wondering why I had never learned these things before and how grateful I was that he was sharing this powerful information with the next generation.
Shortly after the program ended, I was at lunch with Dr. McKinley talking about how transformative the information presented had been to me personally, and I remembering looking at him and saying, “I want to know everything you know!”
And smiled and with a thoughtful look replied, “If you’re serious, I’ll teach you everything I know.”
And he’s kept his word.
Not long after I would be enrolled in a coaching course created and lead by Dr. McKinley. On the first day he said something to all of us that will stay with me forever, “If I know more about you than you know about yourself, I can control you.”
Now at first, I didn’t think much about what he said. I remember thinking, “Well, that’s not a problem. No one knows more about me than me.”
But I kept ruminating on what he said. And then my thoughts began to shift.
“Wait, no one knows more about me than me, right?”
And once again I found myself wondering why I had never heard something like this before.
Because a statement like that is jarring. And it should be. It should shake us out of our apathetic slumber and sober us up to prioritize our self-awareness.
And so that’s what I did. Under his mentorship, I put everything into learning more about myself than anyone else. And I dove into what coaching really was and how powerful it can be to transform your life.
By the end of my official training under Dr. McKinley, I would earn my LCS designation. I was now a Leadership Coaching Specialist. Trained by one of the best in the country in how to develop leaders to their highest levels of effectiveness.
And now I have the privilege of working with some incredible brands and people. Serving as the Executive Director of Leadership Development for Triple Threat I regularly facilitate team development workshops for global brands like Nike, Jordan Brand, Converse, and PayPal. And I have the privilege of working one-on-one with Olympic gold medalists, world champions, and hall of famers.
As I continued to grow in my knowledge of development, I started to realize that the same tools used to make great leaders in business, are the same tools that can make a great life. And that these tools should be accessible to anyone, whether you’re leader by charge or a stay-at-home parent.
My Rescue Your Dreams™ approach allows me to work with individuals and teams in organizations, as well as anyone in need of a transformational partner to serve in their corner as a life coach.
I start by focusing on raising self-awareness. Using personality and emotional intelligence assessments (DiSC and EQi) to illuminate your natural communication style and your strengths, as well as identifying areas that may be underdeveloped and holding you back from the effectiveness you want.
I then help clients uncover their Core Values, which are our life scripts. We can’t lead a fulfilling life that doesn’t honor our core values, so it’s vital to know what your life scripts are, so you can look for ways to display those values daily and as a result, feel more fulfilled.
After helping you build a solid foundation of self-awareness, I’m then able to help uncover how to best improve the areas that have kept you from living and leading at your best.
I’m love being able to use the same tools and insights I unpack at global brands, with some of the highest achieving individuals, to help anyone move forward in life at full choice.
And my greatest desire is that working with me will truly empower you to have more tools for your own life, no matter your role. Meaning you never grow in your dependency on me as a coach, but instead you grow in your own ability to forge ahead however you choose.
So it doesn’t matter if you’re in the C-suite at a global organization or an individual who simply wants to create the life they love, I can help you Rescue Your Dreams™ and transform your reality.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Being authentic.
I can’t stress this enough, you must be you, and not a clone or copy of someone else.
We all have people we admire, learn from, and want to emulate, but it is vital that you find YOUR voice with what you do.
And part of being authentic is knowing when something is out of your lane, or even when you don’t have the answer.
With every engagement I have I ask my clients to sign a coaching agreement. On that agreement it clearly says that I am not a certified clinician, accountant, medical doctor, or even your lawyer.
Meaning, you still need to be engaged with other professionals or specialists while working with me. I don’t pretend to have all the answers and I won’t step out of my lane as a coach and put on the facade of being something I’m not.
The beauty of being authentic is that it builds predictability. People know that you’re the same person in all arenas and they can predict how you’ll show up, which allows you to meet their expectations. And with predictability, you’re able to build trust. And trust is a beautiful foundation to deliver above and beyond what a client expects, allowing you to grow a positive reputation in your field.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
In the coaching realm you can either be a coach who only engages with your clients transactionally. Meaning when they book a session with you is when then see and hear from you. And if they stop working with you as a coach, they also stop hearing from you.
Or you can choose to be a coach who engages with your clients relationally, beyond their booked timeslots with you.
I deeply care about people. I care about their concerns and their desire to be great. So, I’m not a transactional coach. I’m a very relational coach. I check in with my clients beyond their sessions. I ask how their week is going, how a specific challenge we talked about is unfolding, or simply send them some encouraging words.
And if they choose to stop working with me as a coach, it doesn’t stop my interest or care in who they are. Still today I keep in touch with people who started off as a client, but I continue to encourage, support, and check-in with regularly.
I even offer “spot-coaching” for my clients at no charge. Often insights, reflections, and challenges come up after a session is over and there’s a natural need to unpack some of these things in real time. So, I allow clients to call, text, or email me 24/7 for a quick 10 minute check in if they need to talk. I may not always be available but I do get back to each person as soon as I’m able.
This allows the relational equity between us to go beyond our official one-hour engagement and grow into natural rhythms of having a supportive voice available.
I understand that may not be for everyone, but it’s definitely helped me to have more meaningful relationships with those I coach.
