We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Adam Marshall. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Adam below.
Adam, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
In 2011, two lawyers with lots of experience in the cut-throat profession of giant law firms and its hourly billing battles… thought there had to be a better way. Joe Grant and I started Marshall Grant PLLC in Boca Raton with an idea that most other lawyers said would fail and it simply wasn’t scalable. It’s truly a unique model in the world of law firms. By eliminating internal competitiveness among attorneys and aligning compensation with their client’s best interests, our attorneys focus on serving their clients and sharing credit.
While my peers thought the concept was too idealistic, clients started to flock to a law firm where they were represented by the most capable lawyers and where its internal incentives are based solely on client satisfaction. Not only did we prove this model works, eleven years later we have exploded in growth, merging with another firm and forming Lorium law. Out passion for expansion has Lorium serving clients in South Florida, Chicago and North Carolina with more destinations on the way. Plus, the practice areas continue to grow as more attorneys join the movement and now Lorium offers: commercial litigation, bankruptcy and restructuring, civil litigation, intellectual property litigation, real estate transactions and more.
True to the vision, Lorium Law has become synonymous with exceptional client service, the highest quality legal representation, and a dynamic internal culture. This game-changing concept is benefiting attorneys, their clients and starting to scare the big law firm’s model of internal competition and no collaboration.

Adam, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Before becoming a member of Lorium, I was a founding member of Marshall Grant, PLLC. We focused the practice on matters dealing with corporations, with an emphasis on corporate restructuring, bankruptcy, and distressed M&A. We have represented debtors, creditors, corporations, lenders, funds, and buyers and sellers of assets in numerous industries, including, retail, food service, real estate, healthcare, automotive, energy, and financial services.
Further, we counsel business owners/C-level executives on general corporate matters, including structuring, financing, operational needs, and liquidity events/strategies.
I began my career as an attorney with several national and international law firms, including White & Case and Greenberg Traurig, working in the restructuring and distressed M&A practice areas. I have practiced since 1999 and have lived in Florida since 2001, with my wife Stefanie and two sons, Joshua and Alexander.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Being a good person. Being humane. Get to know your community and support it. Get to know your clients as people. Find out what keeps them up at night and address their concerns. Build trust through honesty and always doing the right thing. Never “nickle and dime” the client and give them your full attention.

Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
One time I drove to Naples, Florida for a perspective client. I presented him with my best pitch. He called me the next day with follow-up questions… and then again the following day. He finally became my client and would be a client for over 15 years before his passing. One day I asked him about why he hired me and I thought I knew the answer… which would have been because I gave him a world-class pitch. And he said, no… that any good lawyer can wow you with their pitch. It was because I smiled when I spoke with him and answered my phone every time he called. Such little things can be so important for success and should never be overlooked.
