Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Adam Houck. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Adam, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
Once we had the idea to establish a brick & mortar wrestling school, we first had to find a building that would have high enough ceilings to allow us to do everything we needed. That alone was about a year long process of checking out spaces, weighing pros to cons, before we could finally find the place that fit our needs.
Then came updating, 27 years worth! Especially being a training gym, there was a good chunk of work to be done to make the building compliant just to be able to even run our business. Once that foundation was laid, we had to put word out that we were looking for students and began training within a couple months of getting the keys.

Adam, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The Xtreme Wrestling Center is the longest standing professional wrestling training school in the Greater Kansas City Metro area, having first opened our doors in June of 2014. Our number one goal is to use professional wrestling training as a vehicle to help people live out their dreams, whether it be one match or a chance to step onto a bigger stage. We have never shied away from helping to teach those other trainers might have turned away in the past, which I think is one of the reasons we have been able to stay consistently in operation even through COVID.
We teach not just the physical components of wrestling and what all goes into performing a match, but also help our students learn valuable production and backstage skills as well to help them be assets in a multitude of ways. By focusing everything on our three core values of Safety, Discipline, & Respect, we are making not just better wrestlers, but better people overall.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Three letters: S.E.O. One of the early strengths Jordan possessed as a partner was quickly learning how to capitalize and maximize our Search Engine Optimization for Google. If you have a question about anything, what do you do? You Google it! So if you make sure that your web page is appearing at the top of the searches, you’re naturally going to get more looks which will turn into more clients. Our first goal was to make it to the first page of “pro wrestling training” searches, and to take the 1st spot for “pro wrestling training in kansas city”. Once we staked our claim on Google, it was all about maintenance.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
This originally began as a side passion for David and myself, just training guys and having fun on our own time. We realized that what we had access to could easily be a knowledge and skillset that can be turned into a profitable business for the right motivated person, So we opened up the school with two students and got to rolling. We were eventually able to garner enough attention to open up to 7 full days a week before COVID, and have helped this transition into a second event production company allowing many of our students their first taste at the spotlight!
