We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Adam Gilmore a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Adam, thanks for joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I was working a 9-5 at a place I truly hated. One day when the pandemic hit I became really sick. The company would call and ask when I was coming back instead of asking how I was. That was the last straw so I took it upon myself and I prayed about it and I quit. Went out on faith and started doing my photography full-time
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well Im just young man from Baltimore from The Cold spring and Park Heights Area (Zone) 15. Father of 1 child. I’ve always had a love for photography since I was a kid. My dad and mom always had a camera around the house and I would take it and shoot pics at church and school just messing around. They use to be mad because I was wasting their film lol. I was always the guy with the camera. One day my cousin pulled my to the side in 2015 and said I need to take it more serious and get paid for my photography services because at the time I was doing events just for the love and appreciation. I took his word and been successful ever since. I provide every photography service from Maternity shoots to weddings. There’s a million photographers out here but what makes me stand out is my passion and concern for my client. I never want them to leave a session or event not satisfied with what they got. I want to leave a lasting impression on each every person that comes my way
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My thing was to keep flooding the timeline. We as people have short attention spans lol. People get amnesia or don’t see your work do to the algorithms of social media. So I always tell fellow business owners to keep reminding people what you do. You gotta keep up with the times and that’s including doing REELS, vignettes, sharing your work constantly, showing your worth basically letting people know why you are the person they should be hiring
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think word of mouth, my reputation and my work spoke for itself
