We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Adam Bylicki. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Adam below.
Adam, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
After retiring from the Army in 2018 I took a contracting job that required me to be gone for 90 days at a time. Having 2 girls at home made this got old real fast. After a little Over a year I quit and decided to chase what I’d always wanted to do, which was cool for a living. We opened the truck in late 2020 and haven’t looked back since. It has been one of the most rewarding choices I’ve ever made. We are now trying to share this experience with others through franchises. My goal now is to help other people chase their own dreams.
Adam, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We specialize in Lobster rolls. We offer the traditional variations as well as a few of our own design. What we do is driven by pure passion. I’m doing exactly what I want ,almost every day. It’s been about 2 years now and I still don’t feel like I’ve ever been to “work”. Most proud of the fact that I went for it, took the chance, and it has exceeded anything I ever thought it would be. We always tell our kids to chase their dreams, but not many of us actually do. I can tell my children to do that knowing that I did it myself. I make my own schedule and never miss an event with them. I love what I do, I love being around people who are also doing what they love.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
Always take care of the people who take care of you. I’ve learned over the years that people who want to be there will always out perform the people who have to be there. Be relatable and fair. Realize that different things make different people tick. The same approach will not work with everyone. You have to take the time to figure what motivated people and focus on that.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Rich dad, poor dad. Please read it!
