We were lucky to catch up with Adam Bremen recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Adam thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My name is Adam Bremen, Founder of CanDo. Our mission is to inspire and empower a community of doers, dreamers and believers to live a healthier, more-fulfilling lifestyle, every day. Why? I was born with Cerebral Palsy and have used an electric wheelchair for mobility my entire life. From an early age, my parents instilled in me that life is about what I CAN DO, not what I can’t do.
At 42, I was overweight and needed to make a change. I transitioned to a low carb, low sugar diet and began exercising. I lost 65 lbs! During my weight loss journey, I couldn’t find an on-the-go snack that tasted good. So, I created CanDo KRISP, protein bars that combine premium ingredients, unrivaled taste and a crave-worthy crunch. Starting CanDo allowed me to develop not only great-tasting products but also a platform for people to share their CanDo stories. I am committed to helping others, cheering for others, and encouraging people to realize their dreams.
At CanDo we believe everyone has a CanDo story and we are on the hunt to hear them all and share them all. After all, it’s about what you CanDo.
Adam, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Wether you are a busy mom and need a quick afternoon snack or a runner who needs fuel post workout we got you covered. Find us nationwide at several grocery stores or online at tastecando.com!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I have been in an electric wheelchair since I was 4. Most of my life has been about being resilient. I think it is crucial who you surround yourself with and the kind of people you allow into your life. No one ever put me in a corner, no one ever told me I couldn’t do something – my family always instilled in me that I CAN do anything.
I moved out of my house in Michigan and attended ASU all on my own. I made some of my best friends to this day. I met the love of my life Rachel, and we married in Nashville TN. However, I lost Rachel to cancer shortly after which made my whole world flip upside down.
I love the world resilient because you can be resilient on so many levels. You can take a million “no’s” from people about your business and continue to keep going with something you believe in, you can continue to work on a relationship and not give up, you can get to that next level of a workout out or a health journey just by believing in yourself.
After my loss, I had to do my best to keep moving forward every day. I found other things to keep me occupied, made new hobbies that I enjoyed and made sure to keep going because my life and time here was something I still could take advantage of.
I have been through a lot in life, so many people have, and these tough times make us tougher. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of Rachel. I am always reminded that if I can get up every day after something like that nothing will keep me down. I am resilient at work every day. In the beginning I would wheel into grocery stores all over LA and offer samples of our bar. I would get kicked out constantly but would continue to show up day after day. We are now a nationwide brand in almost all grocery store locations.
I could go on and on about being resilient. I encourage everyone to be resilient. The sun will always rise.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I worked at Charles Swab before CanDo. I never imagined creating a snack bar. I am a huge foodie, who doesn’t love good food? To think I would give up carbs and sugar for a period in my life would have been insane at the time. Now, however, it was the best pivot I ever made. Focusing on my health not only allowed me to be happier and healthier, I also was able to create this snack bar and community.
At. CanDo we started out as a keto bar. We now have pivoted to a more inclusive low-carb, low-sugar bar. Appealing to not only the keto community but anyone who wants a healthier snack option.
As a start up, and being a business owner, we are always changing, going in a different direction or trying out a new approach. Being flexible and open to the change is the only way we keep growing and thriving. I love a good challenge.
