We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Adaeze Nwanonyiri . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Adaeze below.
Adaeze , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
The best thing that I have done to show a customer our appreciation was when I invited her out for coffee to understand her culture. I really wanted to implement her culture into one of our deserts. She explained what her families beliefs were from their country as well as special ingredients that always make their family feel united even if they are separated in distance. I did some research on where I could track down the key ingredients and brainstormed with my team at Beas Bakery to add as a “desert of the week.”
Adaeze , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a interior decorator and writer who enjoys designing different cafes and restaurants maintains the cultural authenticity. This started when I was in college in New York City and I had to find a way to stay afloat. I started designing my roommates dorm rooms by their individual personalities as well as intertwining their cultural roots. Word of mouth got me to where I am today.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I had a lot of other prospects that I wanted to design for, but I received a lot of doubt and rejection for a very long time. I did not let that hold me back because I knew what I was made of. Most importantly, I knew what I brought to the table and I knew that all I needed was one “yes.”
How’d you meet your business partner?
I met my business partner, Lenny Rosenberg at an event in Malibu, California. He is known as “The Michael Jordan” of rebranding restaurants/bakeries, but not design. He invited me to view one of his latest acquisitions in Los Angeles. I gave him a few pointers of how the design and change of energy could turn his business into the “hot spot.”
He took a chance on me in LA and I was hired to bring the aesthetic vision to life. Our latest acquisition is Beas Bakery in Tarzana, CA.
