Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Acheil Tac. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Acheil thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
When I came up with “The Athlete’s Advocate”, my initial vision was to launch my very own consulting firm. This consulting firm would be a resource for athletes of all ages and skill level. While thinking through the entire process of creating and launching a consulting firm, I decided to start small. Starting small meant that I had to build and grow my target audience first before I officially launched a business behind it. So, I started with a podcast and eventually morphed my podcast platform into a digital media platform shortly after.
When I started the podcast, I had to figure out what kind of information I would be passing on, what topics would be discussed, and who I would be interviewing. I also had to figure out what our mission statement would be and what would set us apart from other podcast platforms. Once I figured that out, I went on to create and design the art for the podcast. I wanted the design and color scheme to be simple but reflective of the type of content I was going to push. Shortly after getting the equipment and finishing the artwork, I set out to interview our very first guest.
After getting some traction and growing the podcast aspect of my idea, I then moved into the next phase. The next phase was turning something as plain as podcast audio into video and making sure that we brought our audience along on the journey creatively. This part provided an opportunity to showcase the entertainment aspect of the platform. From that, the media side of the idea was then formed. As of now, The Athlete’s Advocate is operated as a podcast and digital media platform dedicated to giving athletes a voice to advocate for others, challenge the system, and change the status quo, while providing vital information and resources along the way!
Acheil , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My Name is Acheil Tac and I am from Dallas, Tx. I am a Professional Athlete, advocate, and Founder. I got into podcasting and launched my media platform, ‘The Athlete’s Advocate’, during a time when I believed athletes needed it the most. Athletes are often counted out of several conversations within society, and it was time that they were able to take their power, voice, and narratives back. Our media company gives them the ability to tell their stories, learn from others and get access to resources and information they need to navigate their athletic journeys. Both at the high school, college, and professional level. Our platform is sharing unique stories of athletes that are advocating for others, challenging the system, and changing the status quo!
What sets us apart from other podcast platforms and media platforms is the part about providing vital information and resources, staying authentic, and allowing those stories to be heard from the individuals that have experienced them, instead of narrating their stories for them. Each episode contains a different athlete and topic that is very much relevant today.
Our brand is about highlighting athletes at all levels who are dedicating their own careers, platforms, and voices to advocating for athletes to see the change in the athletic world that we want to see. It is a brand that is merging society with athletes and their authentic selves. Letting every day individuals know that athletes are not robots, but humans just like you.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I think it is a great time to be a creative, especially within this new digital age. Creatives now more than ever are being celebrated for their work and ideas and have access to so many resources to bring their ideas to life. The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the ability to share your story, art, and ideas with the world in more ways than one. We’ve seen how artist and creatives are consistently changing the world and allowing ideas to influence the world in such a way that everything is not in black and white, but also in color. Art and creativity bring communities together and that is another aspect that is also rewarding for us!
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building an audience is a challenging journey no matter what business you are in. What makes it easier is staying true to your mission and maintaining authenticity throughout your growth. We grew our audience on social media by providing value and being consistent. People want to follow people that provide them something. Some examples include but are not limited to experiences, resources, information, etc. It is also helpful to be an advocate of your business or platform.
