Acenette , appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Maravilla Cacao translates to Marvelous Cacao in English. When creating my company’s name I didn’t want to add my name to it as many chocolatiers do. I wanted my product to speak for itself, what better way than calling it a marvelous product. When I first got into the chocolate industry it always amazed me how beautiful chocolate could be and I know many time my customers are in awe, so that is how Maravilla Cacao came to be.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Acenette Gonzalez, I go by Ace for short and I am the proud owner of Maravilla Cacao a Latin American chocolate company that specializes in bon bons and chocolate confections. I started working in the Culinary Industry at age 17 to get into my dream college the Culinary Institute of America, I went to all three campuses in the US and that is where I first saw chocolate being worked but never dreamed about being in the chocolate field. Upon graduating I went to work in various high end restaurants here Dallas. Working with chocolate came on as an part time job from a friend that asked if I was interested in working with him during the peak season. I got a full time position after the peak season and that’s where it really started becoming a passion of mine.
I took the jump to start Maravilla Cacao at the end of 2018, by 2020 is when it really started to take off. We started to do pop-ups and getting catering request. Currently we are in a growing phase and hope to be take Maravilla Cacao full time by end of 2023.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Maravilla Cacao is currently a side hustle that is becoming something bigger. The phase that I am in is phasing into Maravilla Cacao being my full time job. I have certain goals within this year and start of next year. My hope is to start selling in retail and Ecommerce as well as expanding our wholesale. The ultimate goal is in the beginning of 2024 for to have brick and mortar.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source to new clients is always social media, I see my followers grow as well as sales when I consistently post onto our Instagram or TikTok. Our product is eye-catching so photographs, that’s why Instagram and TikTok is our best avenue to getting new customers.
